Publisher's summary

When you're the best at what you do, it's not always easy to walk away. Nathan McBride was retired. The trained Marine sniper and covert CIA operative had put the violence of his former life behind him. But not anymore. A deep-cover FBI agent has disappeared along with one ton of powerful Semtex explosive, enough to unleash a disaster of international proportions.

The U.S. government has no choice but to coax Nathan out of retirement. He's the only man with the skills necessary to get the job done. But almost as soon as Nathan reluctantly accepts the assignment, he finds himself caught in the middle. On the one side is a ruthless adversary with a blood-chilling plan - and on the other are agents who will stop at nothing to see their own brand of justice done.

Was hoping for more sniper stuff

Good, not great. At it's heart, this book is a detective story. I was hoping for more of a military feel with lots more sniper activity.

Dick Hill is a good narrator, but sometimes I'm put off by his somewhat Shatner-esque delivery.

Got this book from a 3 for 2 sale, so I'm not disappointed with my purchase. However, I will probably not continue the series.

Great Book

This is a great read. Action all the way through the book. Great story line that keeps your attention all the way through. Nathan and Harv make the book excellent. Love how the book goes into detail on every scene and action the pair goes through. Dick Hill uses many voices to make each character come alive.

Can't wait to listen to the other two in this series.

OK Book.

I found this book not living up to the reviews by others. It was a good listen but certainly not one that had you sit in the car or stay up late listening. Certainly not on the level of Vince Flynn or Daniel Silva. I would say one notch below.

Killer Listen

Would you consider the audio edition of First to Kill to be better than the print version?

Yes, the reader's voice clearly depicts the characters different to it makes the story line easy to follow.

What did you like best about this story?

Story kept moving but was not unrealistic in nature.

Have you listened to any of Dick Hill’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Haven't listened to Dick Hill before, but will definitely look for other books he has read. I have done this with other performers.

Awesome Story

Nathan Daniel McBride is a sniper with the type of partner anyone in the military or security business would kill for.

Nathan and his partner are out of the military and are running a private security firm. As a team, they take on an assignment to locate a F. B. I. agent missing in action.

After Nathan and his partner start their investigation, they uncover the truth by putting the facts together. The truth as you will read begins with the undercover F. B. I. agent and why he was sent to bring down Freedoms Echo.

The title is First to Kill and when you read the story you will see why. I will make sure to definitely finish the Nathan McBride series. I would also highly recommend Mark Greaney’s Grey Man series and David Baldacci’s Will Roby series.

Amazing story

Where does First to Kill rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

2nd to Vince Flynn's Mitch Rapp series so far, but definitely a very close 2nd

What did you like best about this story?

The action and details behind counter terrorism I just love spy stories

Which character – as performed by Dick Hill – was your favorite?

Dick Hill did a great narration for Harvey. I knew Harvey was speaking without having to be told.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I didn't have extreme reaction per se but I did have a few moments of " oh gross" with some of the interrogation aspects. I also appreciated some of the humorous banter between characters.

Any additional comments?

Narration of the women characters could use a bit of work but really did not distract from the telling of the tale. Great story great narrating of the story. I can't wait to get started on book 2.

He's no Jack Reacher

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

no

What was most disappointing about Andrew Peterson’s story?

It was compared to Lee Child's Jack Reacher character. He's no Jack Reacher. Rather, he's Jack Reacher for the new millennium. Soft, sensitive, a guy that "needs a hug."

Could you see First to Kill being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Paul Rudd

It is fun but quite predictable.

It seemed as if I read this book before. It was well written which saved it from being a 2 star overall.

Dick Hill as always was great, As usual.

It was fast and action packed. But really no twists and turns. If you like things blowing up and sniper action this is the book for you.

I am planning on continuing the series.
