Publisher's summary

Bart Minnock, founder of the computer gaming giant U-Play, enters his private playroom, and eagerly can’t wait to lose himself in an imaginary world, to play the role of a sword-wielding warrior king, in his company’s latest top-secret project, Fantastical.

The next morning, he is found in the same locked room, in a pool of blood, his head separated from his body. It is the most puzzling case Eve Dallas has ever faced, and it is not a game.

Lt. Eve Dallas is having as much trouble figuring out how Bart Minnock was murdered as who did the murdering. The victim’s girlfriend seems sincerely grief-stricken, and his quirky-but-brilliant partners at U-Play appear shocked as well. No one seemed to have a problem with the enthusiastic, high-spirited millionaire of course, success can attract jealousy, and gaming, like any business, has its fierce rivalries and dirty tricks—as Eve’s husband, Roarke, one of U-Play’s competitors, knows well. But Minnock was not naïve, and he knew how to fight back in the real world as well as the virtual one.

Eve and her team are about to enter the next level of police work, in a world where fantasy is the ultimate seduction—and the price of defeat is death.

Crack another case with Eve Dallas.

This techie loves this one

Eve likes to roll over everyone’s feelings but she gets all whiny when hers gets hurt. One day I’d love to play in a hallow room.

Can't wait for the next one!!

I love J.D. Robb's In Death series!! Eve Dallas kicks butt and Roarke is the ultimate fantasy man. Mostly I love how the characters have evolved through the series. I think Susan Erickson is a great narrator, she makes the characters real. I can see Eve, Roarke, Peabody, McNabb,Dr. Mera and Mavis in my mind. Keep up the good work!! Can't wait for the next one!

Great Narrator!

These books are absolutely fantastic. Regardless of how good the writing is, the story would be much less without THIS narrator. Susan Ericksen is without any doubt THE best narrator ever. I don't think I could endure a book in this series not narrated by Ms. Ericksen. I can recognize each and every character by her character's voice alone. I just love listening to her narrate the Dallas series.

Great story

This was such a great story. A great parallel between reality and fantasy. As always I’m always amazed how well Roarke and Eve work together, even if they’re at odds. Detective Peabody was amazing in interview. It’s great to hear how she’s grown. Not just as a person, but a detective!

Gamers life

June 2060, we find a video game designer killed in his secured hallow room with his head chopped off. Eve and her crew work very hard to discover how it was done. Susan Erickson does her best for all the characters. J.D. Robb wrote a great story.⚘⚘⚘

So MESSED UP

What did you love best about Fantasy in Death?

That it was techie which isn't Eve's specialty at all, but is Roarke's and the geek squad.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

No, but it did keep me intrigued for I never know who the bad guy is.

Which character – as performed by Susan Ericksen – was your favorite?

all of them of course. I have to many favorites to every choice sides.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes because I love to try and figure it all out and read the process how they solve it.

Book 30 of the Best Series Ever!

The 'In Death' series, written by J.D. Robb & narrated by Susan Ericksen, is a futuristic suspense series. The story is set in mid-21st-century New York City & it centers around Lieutenant Eve Dallas & her billionaire husband, Roarke.

My husband & I both love all of the J.D. Robb, 'In Death' series. We first began listening to them when they were on CDs. We've listened to the entire series, in order, three times so far! If we're driving somewhere, you can be sure Eve, Roarke, Peabody, McNab, Capt. Feeney, Mavis, Dr. Mira, Nadine, Summerset & the rest of the gang are in the truck with us. We love all of the major characters & look forward, with anticipation, to the new audiobooks that come out in February & September every year!

If you're looking for an awesome mystery series, a little romance with a bit of the futuristic thrown in, then you'll love this series! Believe me, you just can't go wrong, but be warned... once you get started, you'll be hooked!
