Publisher's summary

Mitch Rapp and his protege, Mike Nash, may have met their match. The CIA has detected and intercepted two terrorist cells, but a third is feared to be on the loose. Led by a dangerous mastermind obsessed with becoming the leader of al-Qaeda, this determined and terrifying group is about to descend on America.

Rapp needs the best on this assignment, and Nash, who has served his government honorably for 16 years first as an officer in the Marine Corps and then as an operative in an elite counterterrorism team run by Rapp is his choice. Together, they have made careers out of meeting violence with extreme violence and have never wavered in the fight against the jihadists and their culture of death. Both have fought the war on terrorism in secret without accolades or acknowledgment of their personal sacrifices. Both have been forced to lie to virtually every single person they care about, and both have soldiered on with the knowledge that their hard work and lethal tactics have saved thousands of lives.

But the political winds have changed in America, and certain leaders on Capitol Hill are pushing to have men like Rapp and Nash put back on a short leash. And then one spring afternoon in Washington, DC, everything changes.

Using his insider knowledge of intelligence agencies and the military, Flynn once again delivers an all-too-real portrayal of a war that is that is waged every day by a handful of brave, devoted souls. Smart, fast-paced, and jaw-droppingly realistic, Extreme Measures is the political thriller of our time.

Tense!

Well developed concepts and painfully realistic scenarios. A little too much on one character's home life but the significance comes through in the end.

A Great Story

I very much enjoyed this book. One of the best in the series. I've listened to it a few times. The added home drama was a nice touch.

Mitt Rapp Can't Be Everywhere All the Time

...but politicians can put roadblocks in front of National Security needs... no different than today... they paid a price in this story... just as we will further down the timeline of history...

Good Story, easy listen.

This is my 1st official review. I personally like Flynn, and the Mitch Rapp series. I didnt think I would find another character that I would like next to Jason Bourne. With Mitch having a protege in Nash, i was hoping to get a little more from him as far as his coming up through the ranks. overall the story was classic Rapp and cant wait to get into the next story.

Never Fails

Mitch Rapp takes on everyone in this one. Doesn’t get a whole lot better than that.

One of the Best

The tedium of Congressional oversight and drama aside, this is one of my favorites in this era of Flynn’s Rapp. With this installment, we are introduced to Mike Nash as another ally in Rapp & Kennedy’s wheelhouse. Excellently read as well.

A Riveting Read

This book started out a little slowly. But it quickly picked up the pace, and, after that, I could not put it down. I think it is one of Flynn's best novels. George Guidall, the perfect narrator for a thriller, was excellent with his authoritative, trademark style. The ending came as a surprise, and although it was a well conceived ending, I wished the book could have gone on a bit longer.

One of the Best Audible Books Out There

I couldnt have picked a better book to get back into my Audible.com fanboyism. This is a thriller in every sense of the word and is made even better by the tremendous voice narration done by George Guidall. I hear that this is a series of books about the two characters and I look forward to not only going back and reading past novels by Vince Flynn but also reading future ones. If Extreme Measures is any indication of Flynns ability to write a great thriller, then count me in.

Extreme Measures is my favorite Vince Flynn novel!

I'm listening to the entire Mich Rapp series plus Term Limits, the only non-Rapp novel written by Vince Flynn, for the third time. I've said before that there is no single best Vince Flynn novel. Each novel he authored is tied for the best. The reason this is my favorite is that that it deals politically with the use of extreme measures. It deals with the hypocrisy of leading politicians like the fictional Senator Barbara Lawnsdale in dealing with the topic. This is extremely powerful novel with lots of action and suspense including a terrorist attack that kills many. Late in Extreme Measures during a terrorist attack in DC Lawnsdale's chief of staff and best friend is killed. Senator Lawnsdale changes sides in the argument to become Rapp's and the CIA's most powerful supporter on Capitol Hill.

George Guidall narrates brilliantly. Extreme measures is a must-read novel from the must-read Mitch Rapp series.
