Publisher's summary

From the New York Times best-selling author of Come Home comes a riveting thriller about one man's search for his wife's killer.

When Dr. Mike Scanlon is called to serve as an army doctor in Afghanistan, he’s acutely aware of the dangers he’ll face and the hardships it will bring his wife, Chloe, and their newborn baby. And deep inside, he doesn’t think of himself as a hero, but a healer.

However, in an ironic turn of events, as Mike operates on a wounded soldier in a war-torn country, Chloe dies at home in the suburbs, in an apparently freak household accident. Devastated, he returns home to bury her, only to discover that the life he left behind has fallen apart. He’s a stranger to his baby girl, and his medical practice has downsized in his absence. Worse, he learns a shocking secret that sends him into a downward spiral.

Grief-stricken, Mike makes decisions upon returning to Afghanistan which will change his life forever. It’s not until he comes home for good that he grasps the gravity of his actions, and realizes he must fight the most important battle of his life, to reclaim his life and his daughter. Along the way, he discovers that everything is not as it seems, and he learns ugly truths about those he loves the most, as well as the true meaning of heroism.

Nice Read

I really liked this story and thought I had it figured out a few times only to be proven wrong. I think the ending was rushed, but overall I really liked the book and the story.

It fooled me...in a good way

Would you consider the audio edition of Don't Go to be better than the print version?

Yes, I would it kept me going until early in the morning...

What did you like best about this story?

I was sure I knew who the killer was boy was I wrong

Which character – as performed by Jeremy Davidson – was your favorite?

Mike

Any additional comments?

I was so involved with this book, as it progressed I was shouting at the kindle on what to do I was ready to write a note to the author I was so mad...thought it was predictable but it was not. I love mysteries and I can usually figure out who the killer is and what will happen next. Lisa Scottoline really surprised me with this one.. If you love mysteries this book is for you.

A Good Read

This is the 2nd time I have listened to this book, and I liked it even more this time. There were times, however, that I was really disgusted at Mike's actions and even gave him.my advice...not that he listened! I was happy that things ended the way they did.

Twists, Turns and just when you got it..

I loved this book. Just when you thought you figured something out, it takes a turn. This book kept my attention and I couldn’t wait to go walking just so I could listen.
The reader did a great job narrating the story as well. It wasn’t too cheesy sounding. I would read it again for sure.

Predictable

This story dragged in until it was obvious long before the ending. Rambled for no good reason.

Dissapointed in this Scottoline title

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I have listened to and read several Scottoline books but this one was not typical. I found the story not up to her usual standard. The story kind of left me feeling like it was wrapped up for closure but didn't really make sense. I didn't care for the narrator. It was hard to hear a man doing a woman's voice with a French accent.

What was most disappointing about Lisa Scottoline’s story?

The pieces didn't seem to fit at the end.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Yes definitely! It was hard to listen to a man playing a French woman's part.

Not up to her earlier books

Would you try another book from Lisa Scottoline and/or Jeremy Davidson?

I would be hesitant. I liked Scottoline's early books that stuck to what she knows, i.e., attorneys

Would you ever listen to anything by Lisa Scottoline again?

Possibly

What didn’t you like about Jeremy Davidson’s performance?

I found many of the voices annoying. The French accent was okay, but the men sounded all the same.

What character would you cut from Don't Go?

The story itself is too unbelievable and twisted. The author knows little to nothing about podiatrists and what they can and cannot do. Is this a story about returning vets, or drug addiction or loss of family or family jealousy?

Any additional comments?

If you like Scottoline, do not buy this book. It is not the real author!

Her worst book ever.

Don't waste your time. I'm usually a fan. Not up to the usual Scottoline skill. Characters weak and poorly defined, boring and predictable. And any lawyer will tell you, the legal portion is unrealistic and legal procedures contrary to law is most jurisdictions. Very disappointing.
