In Whiskey Sour, Chicago police Lieutenant Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels hunted down a killer dubbed "The Gingerbread Man."
In Bloody Mary, she busted a psychopath with a penchant for dismemberment.
In Rusty Nail, it was a serial killer with a doozy of a family tree.
And now, in Dirty Martini, Jack faces her toughest adversary yet: a sicko who's poisoning the city's food supply. But that's just the start of what he has planned, because he's aiming to kill fifty thousand people in the single biggest act of terrorism the US has ever seen. Can she stop him—and decide whether to accept boyfriend Latham's surprise proposal—without destroying both her reputation and her sanity?
Join Jack, her partner Herb, and her nemesis Harry McGlade, for her fourth, and greatest, case so far.
Crack another case with Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels.

Love gritty mystery thrillers.
Intense, Endearing, Funny
The letter Jack uncovers, I wont say more..don't want to spoil anything for the listener.
Her wedding dance and her with Harry.
Yes and I pretty much do!
The book series continues to get better and better! I love the characters, the narration, and the unique story lines. I highly recommend this series!!.
With Lotsa Love from gaz regn
I admit to having listened to only half of this book at the time of writing this review, but I'm enjoying it so much that I feel compelled to hopefully turn other people on to this writer.
The main character is a policewoman who is completely believeable. She's not overly tough and cynical, and she's not shy and retiring, either. She's a real person with real feelings, and she's darned good at her job.
The narrators afre both fabulous, too.
The writer has a great sense of humor, too, and the book flits nicely between being funny, and tension-filled. I'll listen to many more of this author's books.
Now if I could just teach her that Martinis are far better when made with gin instaed of vodka . . .
Another fun read from Konrath. Jack just keeps getting tougher all the time & has the competition to match. This case was interesting & scary. It could happen all too easily. I look forward to the next!
I love books! I have been reading since I learned how and have found so many genres that I cant live without! There's nothing better than loosing yourself in a good book and I cant wait to get my next one.
I am absolutely in LOVE with this series!!! I do find the stories a little predictable at times but I'm so connected to the characters that can't stop listening. The killers are the creepiest I've ever come across but the cops are also the funniest and most honestly depicted people in any thriller I've heard or read. The couple that performs the reading are AMAZING and I'm going to be sad when I reach book 9.
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” - Dr. Seuss
I enjoyed this book - it is pretty consistent with the rest of the books so far except ...
It got a little silly and cinematic at the conclusion. Helicopter was over the top. I laughed out loud more during this book than during previous books. I didn't mind the bit of jumping the shark that happened during this book because I am still hooked on following Jack and her friends through their personal growth.
Narration remains the same as in earlier books - a good fit for the characters and the writing style.
This far into the series with as many books as are in it ... it is worth the time and I've enjoyed it - but glad for the option of kindle unlimited/whyspersync for reduced pricing. Not 100% that I'd be spending credits at this point.
Both of their voices
two many to explain
they make it exciting
no i injoyed casually listening to it
No sympathetic characters and a ridiculous story. I was very disappointed. I was expecting a fun romp with clever dialog. Didn't find it here. The performers were good, however.
