Publisher's summary

The first victim is found in a snow-covered Philadelphia field. Detective Vito Ciccotelli enlists the aid of archaeologist Sophie Johannsen to determine exactly what lies beneath the frozen ground. Despite years of unearthing things long buried, nothing can prepare Sophie for the matrix of graves dug with chilling precision. The victims buried there haunt her. But the killer isn't done yet.

He is cold and calculating, the master of a twisted game. Even with Vito and Sophie hot on his trail, he will not stop. One more empty grave must be filled, and one last scream must be heard, the scream of an archaeologist who is too close for comfort and too near to resist.

Critic reviews

"No one does twisted killers better than the awe-inspiring Rose. Her ability to ratchet up the creepy factor within an exciting procedural thriller makes her tops in her field. The real trick, however, is balancing out a great villain with strong heroes and heroines, which is exactly the case in this fear-inducing novel." ( Romantic Times)

This book grabs You and doesn't let go! Worth every penny. Was my first book by Karen Rose, can't wait to start the next! The narration was amazing.

Intense!

Great book, very intense! Karen Rose has a morbid mind though. At times, her scenes got so descriptive that you could feel a chill run down your spine. Very morbid torture scenes...beware.
There are so many elements going on that it made my head spin. Characters left and right. Took me a while to remember who was who (especially with the hero and his 4 brothers all having rhyming names).
The romance scenes were weak--but this isn't a book for great sex scenes. In fact, you actually wish they'd skip the romance and get back to the plot! I wouldn't suggest this book for someone looking for a typical romance novel where two people fall in love--the woman gets into trouble and the man saves the day. There's way too much plot to this one.
Its true that many of the characters are either good or evil, but the thrill for me was how the cops found the bad guy.
I thought the book was amazing. Great read, err... listen.

Riveting story!

I loved it very suspenseful. I love Karen Rose books they are so addicting, I've started listening to them last month and have about 10 to 12 more books to get through. Gone through her Cincinnati series and romantic series now going to the Baltimore series. I just can not get enough so detailed, I enjoy all the characters and the plots and romance. Keep them coming Mrs Rose I'm hooked!!!!

Kept me guessing the entire time.

The book kept me guessing the entire time. The fast pace kept me interested and wanting more. The ending was not my favorite but such is life. This is my first time reading this author so I will be on the look out for more of her titles.

Good book, bad narrator

Would you consider the audio edition of Die for Me to be better than the print version?

No, since I really didn't like the Narrator

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes, because I was really worried about the main character

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Tavia Gilbert?

Yes, that is for sure.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Concerning the book - yes, but the narrator made it difficult for me.

Any additional comments?

Tavia is easy to understand BUT she reads so slow and her voices all sounds the same. I couldn't even decide if she was reading about a man or woman at many times. I really think she needs to practice a lot more. Take some lessons from Emily Shaffer. Listening to her you know immediatly what character she is doing at any point.

Disturbing

I got through 3 hours and my heart was pounding. I had to stop for awhile. I will finish it at some point. The torture scenes were too realistic. Would have been better if they were described after-the-fact. Hard to believe a woman wrote this!

Sorry, Karen

Although, I prefer my romance sans horribly sadistic psycho-killer torture chambers,I liked 'Scream for me' very much. This was largely because of the very compeling hero who falls in love with a movingly troubled woman. Die for me only has the torture chambers. (In spades! If you like those, you won't go hungry.)
But! The protagonists are unappealing and their union manages to be both bizarre and dull. And, although Tavia is an excellent narrator, she doesn't really do either French or Italian and her perfomance is flat.
Maybe she was just as bored as I was. I can't care enough about any of it to finish.
Sad face.

Die For Me

An inconsistent mess. I could be a good story line, but the details were just non-sense. The heroin rides a 1974 BMW motorcycle with 110hp. In 1974 the top of the line was an ugly R90S with 67hp. A tire track was found and determined to belong to a Ford F150, and the BS goes on and on....
