New York Times best-selling author Joanne Fluke will leave listeners hungry for more with this, her best recipe for murder yet. Devil’s Food Cake Murder finds the residents of Lake Eden, Minnesota, buzzing with activity. Perhaps busiest of all is Hannah Swensen, proprietor of The Cookie Jar, who is experimenting with a devil’s food cake recipe. Listen to more of Hannah Swensen's tasty mysteries.
I love books and animals.I enjoy all sorts of genres, anything from history to supernatural.
I just finished this book and wow. What an ending! I can't until the next one!
The book has the same familiar light and fluffy feeling of the other books.
The narrator is the same and does her always fantastic job.
Overall, if you are a fan of the Hannah Swensen books this is a must! The ending might change everything in the future for Hannah.
An actual story.
Anything but something by this author.
I cannot blame the reader. She did the best she could, given the source material.
Everything except the recipes; but especially the horribly contrived chapter on gun rights.
I couldn't believe it when I found out that the author has a whole series of these horrible pieces of drivel. She actually managed to throw in a chapter on gun rights along with her religious overtones and wildly predictable "mystery". I was on a road trip across the country with my wife so our mutual mocking of this horrendous piece of crap helped pass the time. Now I understand why it was on sale for 4 bucks.
An all around enjoyable book, and if you make any of the recipes, do yourself a favor and make the Chocolate Euphoria Cookie Bars. They're sinfully good :-D
This was amazing, especially with the audio. I loved the book but this was even better. I spent most of the book either wanting to cry or wanting to hurt Norman for being so trusting and secretive. And the ending, well lets just say I am on to the next book.
The ending is awful. I was very disappointed with Norman. He is usually a stand up guy who is perfect for Hannah. He could have handled this much better.
I am tired of Hannah wavering between Mike and Norman. It's time to make up her mind! Mike will always be a cheater and Norman will always be loyal to Hannah. Please stop the wavering.
I love audible books especially due to major eye problems the last few years. This book had a good story but listending to recipes was too much and I quit about a third of the way thru. I did buy the Kindle edition and did fine with that.. I can go back and copy what recipes I want. I am a recipe collector so it is not that I don't like to bake.
The story was fine but lost interest during narration of the recipes. The ending was odd - it did leave some loose ends that could have been tied up.
Ms Toren was fun to listen to and she could make all the characters voices unique in reading.
No opinion about an actor but would watch the show.
I was going to order other audio books by Joanne Fluke but think I will see if I can get to read easier and go the book/Kindle route. I will hopefull be able to return this book.
Good narrator performance. Story was typical for this series. All the recipes get to be monotonous but at least you can skip to the next chapter to avoid them.
As an audio book, the amount of recipes read by the narrator was very distracting from the plot and it took too long to get to the premise of the story. Enough already about the clothes. LIsa retelling the murder was silly and the audience reaction was phony.
No, not at all.
It was ok, but changing voices didn't come off smoothly all the time. Not so sure anyone could have been better considering the shallow story.
It was the first of this series I've read or heard so my attachment to the characters was not strong, but I thought they might be more interesting in another book about the same people. The plot was sort of interesting, but somewhat predictable.
Hannah is too wishy-washy about the two men in her life. Yuck.
Leave out all the recipes, I didn't want a narrated cookbook!
Absolutely. Never buy another. Would like to return it like kindle. Will investigate. Can't bare to listen to another word.
Tone of voice. Sounded like an old woman reading. Just awful.
Don't know b/c I couldn't bare to go on with the book.
Does audible have a return/exchange for another book. Even though it was not expensive, I felt I wasted my money.
I could not take another Grandma Knunsen phrase again. Every other word seemed like it was Grandma Knunsen. Enough already, we know of whom the writer was speaking of, we don't need to be reminded of it every second in the story. I believe it took away from the plot.
