Robert Crais, author of the Edgar Award-nominated L.A. Requiem is a master of the intelligent and complex suspense novel.
In Demolition Angel, he delves into the life-on-the-edge world of the Los Angeles bomb squad. Three years ago, Carol Starkey was one of L.A.'s best bomb squad technicians. Then, a freak accident while disarming a bomb left her scarred inside and out. Now a Detective-2 with the LAPD’s Criminal Conspiracy Section, she is struggling to rebuild her shattered world. When an explosion claims the life of a technician who was a colleague and friend, Carol is assigned to head up the investigation.
With the help of an ATF agent, she discovers that a brilliant madman is designing bombs intended to kill the people whose job it is to disarm them. But as they begin their chase of the man known as Mr. Red, Carol finds that nothing about the case is as it appears. All she knows for certain is that she is the next target. With finely drawn characters and non-stop suspense, Demolition Angel is an unforgettable experience. Paul Hecht deftly conveys both Carol's determination and fear as she fights to reclaim her life.

Don't know what I want to be when I grow up. Trip's cool though. Use Audible to make gym-training sane... And rip my imagination.
This is just plain, old fashioned…. THRILLING!!!! Okay, Paul Hecht doesn't even try to do female voices. FUGEDABOUDIT! This thing is perfectly designed to entertain till almost the last tick of the clock…. LITERALLY! Totally liked it. Recommend it. A blast from beginning to end.
Not the best Crais book I've listened to but I didn't put it down. Had to get into this one before I actually enjoyed it but still thought the ending was a bit of a let-down. First book I've read with the bomb focus and that part I found interesting.
Enjoyable, not a bad book.
Characters and story..readers...cannot pick one item.
Cannot tell without giving away some of the story!
Yes, but cannot give it away.
Buy this book! You will not be sorry.
The story is excellent, but the narrator sounds like he's half asleep or drugged. There's very little difference in his portrayals of different characters. There are pauses in odd places and strange inflections as he reads. Most annoying, the entire narration is broken by wet sounds as the narrator licks his lips, swallows, takes wheezy breaths, etc. This is extremely distracting.
It's too bad the narration takes so much away from the well-written story.
I ordered this book based on the fact that I absolutely loved the book SUSPECT and wanted more from the same author. Suspect was warm, with likable characters and definitely held my interest. This book is completely opposite. Very unlikable characters, cold and dry, monotone narrator, so boring. This is how I can tell how good a book is: I don't want to leave the room OR I can leave the room for ten minutes and miss nothing. Demolition Angel - leave the room for more than 10 minutes and miss nothing!!
