At Annie Laurance's Death on Demand bookstore on Broward's Rock Island, South Carolina, murder suddenly isn't confined to the well-stocked shelves. Author Elliot Morgan's abrupt demise during a weekly gathering of famous mystery writers called the Sunday Night Regulars is proof positive that a bloody sword is sometimes mightier than a brilliant pen.
With Annie in the unenviable position of primary police suspect, the pretty young mystery maven and her wealthy paramour, Max Darling, embark on an investigation into a classic locked-room mystery with high stakes. Failing to unmask a brutal and ingenious killer could mean prison for Ms. Laurance. Success could mean her death. Who could plot a murder better than a mystery writer?

The early books in this series have just recently become available on Audible.com. I listened to this after hearing several later in the series. It was very interesting to finally get the initial introduction to the characters. There are bits of the plot which are somewhat immature, but that's made up for by the overall charm. There are not that many classical style ratiocination mysteries written anymore, and it's great to listen to one.
I've been looking for a new cozy mystery series and stumbled on Death on Demand. I am up to book #8 and I'm thoroughly enjoying this series. The history of the South Carolina coupled with the mysteries make it very interesting.
I'm sure this is a good book, However, it just didn't do it for me. The characters were likable and the plot was good. But it didn't keep my interest. After the first few chapters I skipped to the end for the final summation. I will probably go back and listen to it from beginning to end later. But, I have to give it 3 stars because I liked the idea of the book. It's not bad it just wasn't me.
Twilight fans who also enjoy cozy mystery stories & light readings.
Kate Reading is a wonderful audiobook narrator. Nevertheless, a well-narrated cliched & predictable story is still a cliched & predictable story.
The main character ... and her very good looking, smart, extremely rich love interest who loves the main character (and no other) so unconditionally. (Sounds familiar?)
I have read or listened to every Death on Demand book in the series. I love Kate Reading. She does a good job of reading.
This is light reading, but, interesting good story and always surprise endings
