Publisher's summary

Sports agent Myron Bolitar is poised on the edge of the big time. So is Christian Steele, a rookie quarterback and Myron's prized client. But when Christian gets a phone call from a former girlfriend, a woman who everyone, including the police, believes is dead, the deal starts to go sour. Trying to unravel the truth about a family's tragedy, a woman's secret, and a man's lies, Myron is up against the dark side of his business - where image and talent make you rich, but the truth can get you killed.

In novels that crackle with wit and suspense, Edgar Award winner Harlan Coben has created one of the most fascinating and complex heroes in suspense fiction - Myron Bolitar - a hotheaded, tenderhearted sports agent who grows more and more engaging and unpredictable with each pause-resisting appearance.

Good, but not as witty as it thinks it is

A good mystery, very enjoyable to listen to. The narrator strikes the right note for the detective's modern take on a Sam Spade-type wiseass. But there's the problem. The witty asides are lame and silly, too numerous, and they just don't work. Apart from that, I'd recommend it to any fan of Patterson or Deaver

Excellent first meeting

I have read Myron Bolitar books but Jonathon Marosz does an excellent job of bringing them to life for me. his interpretation of my favorite characters is EXCELLENT!! thank you Harlan Coben for creating such wonderfully flawed characters. (except Jessica. I don't like her one bit)

Enjoyed the story

Harlan Coben is one of my favorite writers and I can’t believe I didn’t start the Myron series earlier!! I really like how he writes a story and throws in twist and turns!

Slam dunk and touchdown

I have been looking forward to reading the Myron bolitar series, which came highly recommended from many fans I know of Harlan coben. I was not disappointed!! The story was solid, the characters are dynamic and diverse, and coben kept me guessing until the very end. The narrator was superb as well- Jonathan maroaz? Not sure how to spell his last name. Thank you to the author For the page turner and the narrator for the performance :) im a fan for sure now.

Good

Good story! It’s nice seeing Myron starting out! Wynn and Esperanza are good to see again. I listened to this years ago and decided to listen again. It’s very nice …like coming back to old friends.

Great ending

I had forgotten how annoying Myron’s quips were but I do love Myron’s partner. The story has lots of twists and turns and a great, surprising ending (at least I was surprised).

Narration did not match the writing

I did not care for the narration of this one. The emphasis seemed misplaced on every line and the story suffered because of this.
