Publisher's summary

Charlaine Harris' Anthony Award-winning Sookie Stackhouse mysteries have become a fixture on the New York Times best-seller list and have inspired the acclaimed HBO series True Blood.

In her ninth adventure, Sookie has just tied on her cocktail waitress apron for a night's work when a special report comes on the television. The time has come. The wereanimals have revealed themselves.

But there's an even greater danger threatening Bon Temps. A race of unhuman beings - older, more powerful, and more secretive than vampires or werewolves - is preparing for war. And Sookie finds herself an all-too human pawn in their battle.

No!!!!!

Since the Vampire Revelation was so successful, the weres decided that it was safe to come out as well. With the exception of people like the Fellowship of the Sun, everybody takes pretty well to it. Things are going pretty well until a werepanther is murdered. Her body is left in front of Merlotte's. Jason becomes a victim as he's closely related to the victim. If that's not bad enough, there's danger lurking that could end Sookie's world forever. I really enjoyed this book. I spent the entire book trying to figure out why I never read books past this one. I mean technically I ended on book four. I originally read books five to nine and then one to four. But I had no inclination to continue the series. I couldn't remember why. I remember now. I'm still going to push on and read the last four books of the series. I'm also not going to say why here. People who read it will figure it out eventually. As I can't think of anything I didn't like about the book itself, I'll bring up my feelings about the characters. I was very proud of Sookie. Sookie is just so compassionate about everybody she cares about. She lets some of them run over her as much as they want. This is especially true for Jason and Arlene. I know I'm guilty of this too, but that's entirely not the point. She stuck to her guns this time. She didn't let them make her feel like a bad person. It was amazing to see. I think that this audiobook needs to be edited and reuploaded. Johanna Parker did an amazing job as she did the first eight books in the series. However, in the beginning, there's at least one major mess up that is very obvious. I think it might be an easy fix. Most likely it's just an editing job that got messed up and overlooked. I still think she's an amazing narrator and would love to listen to other works by her. Even though I now know why I didn't go past this book, I enjoyed it very much. Just because the book made me sad doesn't mean that it was a bad book. I wish I could gush all about why the book made me sad. However, I really just don't want to spoil it for others that will read and enjoy it. I promise that it's still very much worth the read. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series. I can't believe I only have four left to read.

Okie Dokie

These books are very addicitve. Although I'd say Harris' writing has a very subjective audience, some parts are down right ridiculous. But, if you're looking for a storyline that does not take much thought to follow and need a few unintended laughs, these are the books for you. They are so bad, they are good.

Charlaine never fails

As usual, a fast paced book with well developed characters in the series. I could not put the book down. I love the Sookie Stackhouse series!

Significantly less good

I wish that Charlaine Harris was able to be more consistent in this series. It seems like I love one book and am disappointed when the next doesn't live up. I really wasn't impressed by the 'coming out' of the weres and the book didn't really get much better after that either.

These books never disappoint

It's so interesting to reread all the series long after the True Blood HBO series is over. If you pay attention to the details in the books you see where the HBO writers took little threads from the book series and created the 'enriched' story lines for HBO. I always thinks of all the spin offs that could be done. Hunters story continued...more detailed backstory on Claudia and her brothers...Amelia, Bob, Octavia and the witches of Orleans story, so many potential stories.
The books that have been written since the end of both series ( Book & HBO) on characters are just silly. The Midnight Series were fantastic. The occasional intertwining of the Vampire characters was great. I just wish Ms Harris would continue Midnight or come up with a new series. Thank you again Ms Harris
