For a vampire lovers

This review goes for books 1-9 in the Sookie Steakhouse series.
Fun, interesting, crazy, at times predictable but who cares,...I started reading and I couldn't stop until I read (listened) to all of them. I truly enjoyed them until I read book 10 and I got so very disappointed. Why, oh why Mrs. Harris? I heard number 11 is as bad but I can't say since i stopped buying them. Anyhow, first nine are a must for anybody who enjoys a good vampire story.Oh and reader is great!

Surprisingly Entertaining

Any additional comments?

One of the better urban fantasy stories I've read actually. However I'm not a huge fan of urban fantasy in general.

HOOKED!!!!

I loved the HBO series and I've finally gotten around to reading the books and wow I could not stop listening! The narrator does a spot on Sookie Stackhouse impersonation which definitely helps with immersion. Immediately started book 2 after finishing this one. I just wish the books were longer and there were more because I cant get enough.

Between a 3 and a 4.

This was a fun summer read. Nothing exceptional. Just fairly light and simple. I'll read anther and see if it gets better and holds my interest for the series. I did really enjoy the narrator.

You have to read/listen to this! You wont be sorry

If you could sum up Dead Until Dark in three words, what would they be?

fantastic, intriguing, sensual

What about Johanna Parker’s performance did you like?

I think she did a wonderful job. She's the perfect person to play a southern girl, she's even got that accent. Just makes Sookie come to life.

Any additional comments?

I absolutely LOVE these books. I normally wouldnt be interested in these types of novels, as they do have some sex scenes in them, and language at times. But for some reason I just cannot put these down. Read the first one within a day and then immediately went out and bought the rest of them.

I liked it

I've read this series before, but have never listened to it on Audible. The narrator was really good and put a lot of emotion into her voice which I really liked. The story is very good as well.

Enjoyed the book more than the True Blood

I felt this book was more enjoyable than the TV adaptation, which is too edgy and explicit for my tastes.

The narration is well done, even if Bill doesn't sound quite as sultry as maybe he should :P

Cute, funny, better than I expected

What did you love best about Dead Until Dark?

This was my first vampire novel -- I started "The Vampire Lestat" but never finished it -- and I was quite surprised to find I was looking forward to listening to it each day. It was engaging, not compelling.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I thought I'd find the vampire deaths ghoulish, but they just seemed peripheral, probably because the whole idea of vampires is so unreal. I guess what I liked best was the playful tone of the book, and the strong, irreverent Sookie. She was a hoot!

What does Johanna Parker bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The narration fit well with the overall comic tone of the book.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Not really. I spaced it over a few days. It wasn't compelling, just a bit of comic, fun relief to enjoy while cooking or knitting in front of the fire on a wintry evening.

Any additional comments?

I'm probably not going to become an ardent fan of vampire novels, but I might try another sometime, especially if it's offered as a daily deal. I think the "fun" vampire novels could grow on me.
