Landon Reed is an ex-quarterback convicted of organizing a points-shaving scheme. During his time in prison, he found forgiveness and faith and earned his law degree. Now he longs for an opportunity to prove his loyalty and worth. Be careful what you ask for. Harry McNaughton is one of the founding partners of McNaughton & Clay and the only lawyer willing to take a chance employing an ex-con-turned-lawyer. Though Landon initially questions Harry's ethics and methods, it's clear the crusty old lawyer has one of the most brilliant legal minds Landon has ever encountered. The two dive into preparing a defense for one of the highest-profile murder trials Virginia Beach has seen in decades when Harry is gunned down in what appears to be a random mugging. Then two more lawyers are killed when the firm's private jet crashes. Authorities suspect someone has a vendetta against McNaughton & Clay, leaving Landon and the remaining partner as the final targets. As Landon struggles to keep the firm together, he can't help but wonder, is the plot related to a shady case from McNaughton & Clay' s past, or to the murder trial he's neck-deep in now? And will he survive long enough to find out?

Say something about yourself!
SPOILER ALERT*** When we find out the lawyers allegedly going to die in a plane crash actually had turned the tables on those pursing them. I had thought only one of the two would have been the victim but not the other one.
Steady good performance throughout and he changed his voice just enough for the different characters but not outlandish like some other narrators do.
It's a good exciting tale without profanity and with a Christian element I like.
really good story
When the lead character has to decide if the safety of his family is greater than keeping his integrity.
Randy Singer does it again. Great read and wonderful story to hear.
I really liked this story but got sick really quick of the multiple In detail descriptions of the women and what they were wearing and how the supposedly Christian married man had to really avert his eyes (giving the suggestion of his sexual thoughts/desire toward someone other than his wife over and over ) I wanted to hear a good mystery but feel like I got a boatload of useless sexy details I didn't want. It was embarrassing and had to be turned off at times with kids around and that is just taking it too far! More mystery and less sex please!!!
Words spoken in season is like a fresh rain.
Didn't read the printed version.
Sean Phoenix' exposure.
Collins' performance was good.
Don't get caught in your own game.
Because I love legal books this was a good book. But, I Loved The Advocate by Singer, his greatest work of the two. :)
I really enjoyed this. The story was interesting and had some surprises thrown in. Unlike another reviewer, I didn't find any objectional sexual reference. Since that review did concern me, I was listening for it.
Thought this was about a former NFL player. So, why does it start with a Syrian woman being brutally tortured? First few minutes were way too graphic.
I returned it.
Well written story that is well performed.
Was some suspense to the end, but I had the real murderer figured out early in the book.
If time would have allowed to yes.
i do not have written version; however, the audio is 2d to none.
yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssss ... I forced myself to take a break. Within minutes went back to listen.
Strongly recommend ::: . Love, Loyalty, and Suspense describe this book.
