Publisher's summary

Ex-CIA master assassin Court Gentry has always prided himself on his ability to disappear at will, to fly below the radar and exist in the shadows - to survive as the near-mythical Gray Man. But when he takes revenge upon a former employer who betrayed him, he exposes himself to something he’s never had to face before.

A killer who is just like him.

Code-named Dead Eye, Russell Whitlock is a graduate of the same ultra-secret Autonomous Asset Program that trained and once controlled Gentry. But now, Whitlock is a free agent who has been directed to terminate his fellow student of death. He knows how his target thinks, how he moves, and how he kills. And he knows the best way to do the job is to make Gentry run for his life - right up until the moment Dead Eye finally ends it.

Fast paced exciting and riveting. Was late to work more than once because didn't want to stop listening. Pumped to get the next in the series.

Two for the price of one

Readers who wonder how you can root for a paid assassin like the Gray Man will be able to figure it out after digesting this installment in the series. Court Gentry is the good Gray Man. Dead Eye is the bad Gray Man. Guess who wins? Didn't think this was the best of those I've listened to, but definitely worth 4 stars.

issues in the recording

There were several times in different chapters where the volume of the narration would soften so much that I had to start increasing the volume of my earphones... only to startle myself when the volume of the narration would go back up again.

Please fix this.

Suspend your beliefs and enjoy the ride!

I’m not going to nitpick on the 85% impossibility of the situations and outcome Court finds himself. It is for my entertainment just as a movie would be. If we stopped at what would actually happen, our books and movies would last all of 20 minutes, tops. Yes, you do have to suspend your beliefs and go with the flow. If you can do this, you are in for one hell of a ride! This is the 4th installment in the Gray Man series. It has the introduction of Dead Eye as Court Gentry’s main nemesis. It was action packed as always and the narration is superb!

Another winner!

Greaney does it again in this riveting thriller. I was on the edge through most of it and enjoyed the work of "reader" Jay Snyder the most of any I have heard him do! He is getting better every time I hear him. Thanks Mark for another great read!

Dead Eye

One of the best novels in the series so far, Mark Greaney hits a home run with the Gray Man in Dead Eye. The suspense kept me from sleeping, as I couldn’t put it down... non-stop heart-pounding action!

Best story so far

Court Gentry is a hero who everyone wants to make a villain. In this most recent novel, it is made more clear that he is being targeted by people high up in the US government for all the wrong reasons. We've always know that as readers, but this novel makes it very clear that Court is a victim of someone, somewhere, who wants him dead.

The action is continuous. The storytelling is excellent. I was not 100% thrilled with the narration, but not enough to downgrade my overall score. I strongly suggest starting at the beginning of the series -- "The Gray Man" -- in order to understand Court's character.

The Gray Man

As in a lot of my reading, since finding audible books, I have found that certain style of books I enjoy listening to more than actually reading it. This is a great series. Lots of action good story lines and easy to picture the scenarios without even trying. If you like adventure and action and a good hero, listen to the series.
