Publisher's summary

If there aren't any real-life lawyers as entertaining, as witty, and as willing to tilt at windmills as Andy Carpenter, Edgar-finalist Rosenfelt's engaging series hero, then there should be.

Carpenter, the Paterson, N.J., lawyer whose wealth allows him to work as seldom as he chooses, is recovering from the loss of the love of his life, Laurie Collins, who has moved home to Findlay, Wis., to become the acting chief of police. When Laurie calls Andy for help after arresting 21-year-old Jeremy Davidson for murders that she thinks he didn't commit, Andy can't resist heading off to Findlay with his faithful dog, Tara.

There's damning evidence against Jeremy, accused of killing two young women, one of whom he was romantically involved with. Andy is forced to pry into the closed society of Center City, home of the victims and a peculiar religious sect called the Centurions.

One part mystery, one part humour...

The hero is a hoot and his cohorts are entertaining. I was engrossed by the story and the pace was a big part of that attraction. Of course, I'm always a sucker for wise-cracking, bad boy hero who doesn't mind showing us some of his foibles.

Very entertaining - Andy Carpenter at his best

If you could sum up Dead Center in three words, what would they be?

Do Not Miss!!!!! You will regret it. David Rosenfelt continues to bring Andy Carpenter to life with twist at every turn

Andy Goes to Wisconsin

To change a pace, the setting is not Andy's neighborhood. But that doesn't matter, because he still has his humor and wit (along with his dog Tara) to bring out the truth and get the bad guys!!

David Rosnfelt has not gotten stale with this series. And Grover Gardner is wonderful to listen to!!

These stories are Beach Fare, but so much fun to listen to and something to brighten a stressed life anywhere.

Great Listen

This was my first listen from this author and this reader. The book and plot were engaging. The reader made this listen very enjoyable.

The mix of drama and humor was this book's draw. I recommend this to anyone that truely enjoys well read comedy/drama based lawyer/police fiction.

Another great Andy Carpenter Story!

Not his best, but still great. It's all about Grover Gardner for me, I've grown so accustomed to having him in my ear when I go to bed I can't hardly get to sleep w/o him any more...

Such a fun listen!

This is my first David Rosenfelt book and it was such a treat. The narrator, Grover Gardner, sounds just like the actor Nathan Lane and his performance was a joy. It is a funny, well written book anyway and Mr Gardner’ delivery made me laugh out loud several times. If you simply want something to entertain, lighten the day and make you smile this is it.

Surprising find

A fine audiobook. Glad I downloaded it. I suppose I should have started with the first book of the series but I didn't have too much trouble figuring out the characters. I'm interested in the rest of the series now. Fantastic narration by Grover Gardener. He really nailed it.

Great Book

I thought this book was great listen couldn't stop. I would give it 5 stars but Im not a big dog lover so I really didn't care for all the commentaries about the dog. The dog portion was a bit too Anthropomorphic for my tastes.

However the naration and story was well constructed and the character was very funny.

Great book for a long ride!

The book we listened to on the drive to southern Cal was a groaner. We listened to Dead Center on the way back home and we both really enjoyed it. Lots of laughs and smiles. It had a good story line, likeable characters, and a faithful Golden Retriever who was there for our hero just by being his trusty, loving pet. I will definitely seek out more books by Rosenfelt.

And of course, Grover Gardner always gives a great performance and does humorous dialogue wonderfully.
