I truly enjoyed this book. It's the first book I've listened to from this author and it had a great ending. Kept me guessing till the end.
This was my first read of a John Lutz Book. I mainly ordered it because of Scott Brick. I was not disappointed by either. I did not figure it out until the very end although there was quite a bit of misdirection on the author’s part. Anyway, I will continue listen to Lutz and definitely continue to listen to Scott Brick.
Yes if you like suspense and police procedurals that offer a twist than this is a great choice.
The twist at the end.
Scott Brick is one of the best out there and I would highly recommend any book that he reads.
This was a very good book in my opinion and Brick did a fantastic job, as always. I especially liked Quinn and his team. I found myself rooting for them, especially Quinn, the lead character. Ending was a shocker too.
This was my first book by this author and i enjoyed it. I generally read crime fiction and this was entertaining. Good characters and plot etc. There were a couple week points here and there where i didn't quite buy the circumstances (one in particular near the end) but on the whole, i liked this story. The narration was good too.
A few must reads: Mr. Mercedes, Narrows Gate, Cop Town, Bomb Proof, Wayfaring Stranger, The Son (Nesbo), Dept Q series...
This is a story involving the complicated and interesting life of several evil people, a falsely accused ex-cop and two misfit homicide partners. There's bad cops in high places, a truly evil killer, and for much of the book they have the upper hand.
The hunt I involves good police work under dark political clouds. All of this has the making of a 5 star story. However, at the conclusion we are left with less than 15 minutes of explanation which left much to be explained.
Scott Brick deserves 5 stars on this one.
Mostly at the very tippy tippy top, waiting for a rush, very exhilirating....untill the end, sorry but a very silly decision by Quinn made me shake my head .....UNTILL the real ending... coulda easily skipped that FIRST bum decision. overall another page turner flawlessy read by Brick. I could listen to him read my birth certificate.
I very much enjoy modern detective novels. I enjoy listening to Scott Brick as the narrator of many of the books available on Audible. This is the first time in probably 200 books that I've enjoyed that I turned it off within the first hour of the book. Too graphic of sex, murder, thoughts of the characters, etc. In my opinion it was too much.
Boring, I could not get through the first few chapters, it could because of the narration or story line not sure but I would not recommend this book.
I listen to and have recently started to write reviews. I've found the reviews have helped me to select books.
Frank Quinn has an opportunity to regain his job at the NYPD that he had been unjustly removed from. Quinn only needs to find the man dubbed, The Night Stalker. There are no clues but there are 300 million faces in NY. Whose face might be the perpetrator of these heinous murders.
This faceless man owns the night. He only kills married couples in the middle of the night. Then he slips out unnoticed into the black of night. The serial killer can't stop himself. He has started to murder couples at a rapid rate. There hadn't been such a crime for the past two years and he has once again started to search and stalk his next victims.
The novel is expertly read by Scott Brick. He is able to bring the killer alive. The killer is frightening all that are aware of his crimes. The book keeps you on the edge of your seat, waiting for the next victims to be stalked. He is mad and can't be stopped until he is caught. You will be able to know who is speaking and feel the hate that emanates from the killer.
How does Quinn and his two partner's find and begin to investigate their first clue. Will Quinn and his partner's be able to find the killer before the hammer falls and Quinn is left go. Quinn's partner's are also walking on the edge.
What has happened to create such a person? People do not turn into serial killer's without a reason, do they? Listen to this novel and you will find all the answers. You will want to keep listening because there are answers but the less you listen, the longer you will have to wait.
I would invite all of the readers of this review to purchase this book and I'm sure you'll be glad that you did. I'm going to wait before I begin another mystery. This one has caused me to have bad dreams. Therefore, I'll have to search in my library to find a different genre of book. Happy listening. I hope that you enjoy this novel as much or more than I did.
