Married "mom" of 3 crazy dogs and 1 cat! I developed a love for reading just after college & only recently for audio. Loving it so far!

"Psychological tease, but not a thriller!! "

I was expecting an "up all night" read/listen based on the reviews of this book. Unfortunately, I didn't lose any sleep!! It was pretty tame, and pretty cookie cutter. Boy obsessed with girl, girl moving on, boy wigs out, etc.... throw in a little twist, an editor, and a publisher, and voila!! A book is born. I am not usually so harsh in my reviews.... but I am so disgusted that I can't seem to find a read that is actually unique & exciting!! I'll keep trying.

As for the narrator of the audio book.... oh my!! I wonder if she is not what ruined the story for me! It seemed like she was reading with her finger guiding her line by line. The flow was off!!! The Texas accent she portrayed for "Morris" was absurd - bordering on comical. I can't stand the way narrators make Southern characters sound so ridiculous. It was like a REALLY BAD "Dallas" skit! Her "regular" voice was ok most of the time... but she seems to slur badly around "s" and over pronounces "ed" before the next word. Quite often, she sounded like Sylvester the cat with peanut butter on the roof of his mouth!! Sssssssuffferin' Succotash!

    "Loved it"

Think I found a new author to obsess over. This is a good (unrealistic, but isn't that why we want fiction?) mystery that is not the cookie cutter bad guy vs. good guy story that all wraps up just perfectly in the end. I loved the character development, but it was not overdone so as to detract from the story line. I guessed the end and was right, but I won't hold that against the author! Definitely worth the credit & "read".
