Another TC novel done right by Audible

The capstone of the book with Zimmer really hits home - excellent story, well narrated, and as good as the first time I read it.

Great story bogged down with techy details

Would you listen to Clear and Present Danger again? Why?

The story is very good and the premise of the novel is feasible. I like where the book went, and the development of the characters was great. If I could go back in time I would buy this book again for sure.

What other book might you compare Clear and Present Danger to and why?

This book is in line with any of Clancy's other books.

What aspect of Michael Prichard’s performance would you have changed?

Michael Prichard is not good at narration. I wish he didn't narrate several books in the series. I don't even know how he got the job actually. Lou Diamond Phillips is way better than Prichard. Roy Dotrice is the gold standard and Prichard is like a block of lead. He is slow, most of his characters sound the same, and he's slow. I have to listen to him at 1.25 speed just to tolerate him.

Any additional comments?

Great book, I recommend it. Prichard is horrible, but the story carries the book.

Way better than the movie

I know most books are better than their movie adaptations, but this movie not only left parts out (mostly action scenes!) but it changed much of the story / plot line as well. If the movie bored you (like it did me), don't worry. The book follows / involves Ding and Clark much more than Ryan, and where those two go, action follows and bad guys die.

More,more

I can't wait for the next novel. Jack Ryan now on tv. Tom Clancy died in 2013, but the family still backs the new books.

I couldn't stop listening.

First, having listened to several books narrated by Michael Pritchard, I am used to his cadence and delivery. He is not a great actor, so at times it is easy to confuse who is doing the talking, but his pace is excellent and I thoroughly enjoy the book. This book is everything I love about Clancy. It has the building of the parts of the puzzle in logical and easy to grasp ways. He is a genius at building suspense by holding just enough back and to keep you guessing where the parts are going to fit and this book really delivers. I loved the beginning. Seeing how the groups were assembled and then trained was fascinating. I learn something every time I read one of his books. This was well worth the 30+ hours I spent listening.

I grew up loving the movie.

After reading the book, the movie is terrible. John Clark is as ruthless as ever. Jack Ryan, always the hero.

Good book; horrible narrator

Tom Clancy is the amazing author. Michael Prichard is the horrible narrator he’s always been.

Another Tom Clancy Classic

Great story, will not disappoint if you like this style. The narrator grew on me since Cardinal of The Kremlin. A little disappointing that Jack Ryan isn’t the central character of the story. I did come in blind and expected it to be that way, but came out pleasantly surprised with all the plot lines coming to towards the end. Don’t hesitate, but this audiobook.

Well done

My first attempt at Tom Clancy outside of the movie treatments, and I enjoyed the writing and narration enough to get the next one.
