A new series for me to enjoy

I really liked this book. The mystery was intriguing, and I adore Hannah Swensen as a character. This book started off fast and it never let up. Understand this is a cozy mystery so its not an intense but it does move at a quick pace and the mystery is pretty much all consuming. There isn’t a lot of sub plots to bog the story the down. The romantic side of the story if you can even call it that seemed a little contrived and almost took me out of the mystery. It was introduced so late in the book it threw me off a little.

Hannah Swensen is an interesting character she loves her job, her family and her community. She begins as a fully fleshed out character and I enjoyed that. She is happy with her life. Her only flaw to me was she seems to want to help everyone and makes a lot of promises about keeping things secret. She made no effort to hide the fact she was investigating the case and the police knew it too; a welcome surprise was compared to other books.

The narrator Suzanne Toren was great and really had me hooked from the beginning.

Love this series

If you could sum up Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder in three words, what would they be?

Funny Good reading

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes I kept thinking that it was someone else

What aspect of Suzanne Toren’s performance would you have changed?

She is ok. Sometimes I wish that she as a bit more upbeat.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did. Couldn't put it down

Any additional comments?

Love the recipes in the books. Pleased that it is a series of books that I can listen to with my youngest son. Not crazy about books that have a lot of foul language in it.

Narrator voice didn’t fit the book

While I enjoyed the story very much. I felt that the narrators voice was much too old for the main character. The main character is in her 30s. So she’s quite young. The narrator sounds like an older woman who smokes too many cigarettes. I had to remind myself constantly through the entire book that the main character was actually a young vibrant woman, not a grandma that smokes too much. The other character voices sounded whiny.

I do truly enjoy the story so I will be continuing with the rest of the series.

Terrible Narration!

This narrator has the most annoying voice and inflection I have ever heard! Love books by this writer but will just be reading the books from now on.
