Publisher's summary

Two Women. One Nightmare.

Except for their gorgeous faces, identical twins Mercedes and Marcie Calder are nothing alike. Mercedes is a movie star in LA with a sexy husband, two beautiful children, and an exciting, glamorous lifestyle; Marcie is an art teacher in Minnesota with a shy disposition and a quiet life alone. But when Mercedes is found dead - mysteriously drowned in her swimming pool - Marcie is the only person who can step into her shoes and finish her latest movie.

On a Hollywood sound stage, she will take on her sister's greatest role. In her Beverly Hills mansion, she will play mother to her children. In her sister's bed, she will make love to her husband. But there is one part of Mercedes' life that Marcie isn't prepared for - until it's too late....

A deranged psychopath is hiding in the wings. Watching her every move. Waiting for his chance to kill... and kill again.

A good mystery

Trigger warning for sexual abuse and child abuse, but makes for a very compelling mystery

Disappointed with the story

Not Ms Fluke’s best work. The narrator was good but the storyline was awful. Don’t bother to purchase.

I liked it

It seems as if I read this story before, the storyline is old…
But I could not stop listening…
Marcy was the dumbest woman in the world…
Accent at first was Mexican and then all of a sudden when they said what she was supposed to be it’s changed but not much…

Something Off Putting About It

The story was okay for me. . .not great. It seemed disjointed. I’m not sure if it was the story or the narration making me feel that way. I definitely didn’t care for the sexual child abuse flashbacks. The only thing that stopped me from turning the book back in was the fact that the details were the bare minimum. Still though, sickening. The main character, Marcy, was so naive and simple minded. That was mind numbing. And then there were the twins who finished each other’s sentences but the narrator didn’t given much definition in their voices to tell them apart.

Ridiculous plot and characters

What did I like? Nothing. The stalker is truly the most appealing character in the book. The remaining characters are unbelievably dumb and seem indifferent to the death of their sister/spouse/mother.
The writing was juvenile and the narrator used the same cloying tone for every word.
I rated it 1 star because 0 wasn’t an option.

Very disappointing

I guessed the murder much too quickly . Main character whined too much. Portrayed as an idiot.

Don’t waste your time

I listened to about 3/4 of this book because I like this author and her Hanna Swenson mysteries which I love. BUT this book is NOT good from the start. Plot is bad. The characters are unlikeable. The main character Marcy is a logical teacher whom is also completely naive? Doesn’t fit the character. Just wanted to pull my hair out listening to her way of thinking and repeatedly poor decisions. How is Marcy not mourning her twin sister at all, especially If they are identical twins? Also 10 year olds are much smarter and would not just let their aunt replace their mother so easily, eye rolling unrealistic!

The worst story ever

I don't know how I managed to get to the end. A beloved mother and sister dies, and no one seems to bat an eyelid. Within the week the identical twin sister is in bed with the widower. She deserves to be murdered, but sadly is not. A really stupid story about a profoundly stupid woman.

Too dark for me

The tone of this story was not engaging nor entertaining to me. Child abuse stories don’t draw me.
