Crack another case with Eve Dallas.

I've now read and listened to the first five books, and they are all terrific, I've fallen in love with Eve & Roarke, Mavis, Peabody, Feeney. The stories just draw you in, I find myself talking back to the book, and the narrator was terrific, never change that. Now I'm off to read Vengeance in Death.
I've been a cop almost 26 years and although her setting is futuristic, cops remain trie to their character. I'm loving the development of Peabody and Eve's role as mentor.
Read me a good story while I crochet some socks.
No! The voices that the narrartor gives to the various characters are hideous. It's like listening to a bad cartoon. Peabody sounds like Velma from Scooby Doo, Trina the hairdresser sounds like one of the monsters from Roz from Monster's Inc. Commander Witney and Feeney are both given horrible voices and she has Eve Dallas yell ALL THE TIME. I love the stories but the voices are just awful. And the mispronunciation of French words is a personal pet peeve.
I appreciated the continued character development.
The sex scenes between Dallas and Roarke are irritating. We get it. Get back to the whodunit and leave the descriptive sex to erotica.
The story is great - the performance is quite good I think....but technical issues have destroyed my enjoyment of it. I have downloaded the book 3 times with the same result - choppy narration with frequent missing words or garbled paragraphs. I have never been this disappointed in an Audible product. I will probably request my credit back.
If your copy is working all right - please do enjoy this story - it is well worth the time.
These are not "heavy" storyline books, but are fun to listen to. Peabody and Rourke were my favorites in this one with their subtle humor as well as the magic/evil aspect. As always, the narrator makes these books their best!
