Publisher's summary

Lieutenant Eve Dallas must immerse herself in her billionaire husband Roarke’s world of big business to uncover the identity of a hit man in this thriller in the #1 New York Times bestselling In Death series.

On Manhattan’s East Side a woman lies dead at the bottom of the stairs, stripped of all her valuables. Most cops might call it a mugging gone wrong, but Lieutenant Eve Dallas knows better.

A well-off accountant and a beloved wife and mother, Marta Dickenson doesn’t seem the type to be on anyone’s hit list. But when Eve and her partner, Peabody, find blood inside the building, the lieutenant knows Marta’s murder was the work of a killer who’s trained, but not professional or smart enough to remove all the evidence.

But when someone steals the files out of Marta’s office and the killer’s violent streak begins to escalate, Eve knows she has to draw him out, even if it means using herself as bait…

Not quite as good, but ends well...

This latest "In Death" novel has the same great narration, the same recognizable characters, but the story was not as good as most of the other stories. If you've read all of the other books, you'll want to listen to this one as well. However, the plot is too slow and repetitive until near the last third of the book. I can hardly wait for the next one!

Murder and Meyhem

I enjoyed this book. We get Eve make exceptional screen both at the Icove movie premier and catching flying babies. The magic coat is put to the test. Roarke does Roarke things. He's one of my all time favorite characters, as is Peabody. Greed goes awry and people die needlessly. I wish I could see some of the dresses that Laenardo makes for Eve. They sound sexy and interesting.
Always have to add, that Susan does a phenomenal job at the narration.

Not the best book in the series

I still loved the book, but I have listened to all of the books recently in succession and this wasn't my favorite. That being said I still loved it. Susan Erickson does an excellent job narrarating. In fact, she has ruined my other series' that I listen too. They are just not up to her entertaining engaging narration. Really felt this book could have had more depth. Especially at the apprehension of the killer. Would have like to have read a little more about the party and personal interactions. The absolute worst thing about this series, is waiting for the next book to come out.

comfort read

Even though it is a new book, this can be count as a comfort read. The series is like a favorite TV drama that does have an arc and has a conclusion for that case every episode. You know the characters very well and you care about them.

To tell the truth, I felt the murder case was used sort of like a set up to deliver the premier of the movie based on Eve's case most sensationally. In fact the movie premier was used as a trap to catch the main henchman. It's actually interesting that the "sensational" case that became the movie is one of the books I didn't really care for. I have to agree it is movie material, though.

Anyway a lot of fun with the banter, comrade and love between the characters. NOT a book for first time series readers but a nice addition to the series.

Just Perfect

I love the way the characters come alive. The imagery is so good you can actually "see" the action as it happens. And it was so very smart the way the action mixes to give an exciting ending to the Icove Agenda movie, and to the actual case.

The Latest Eve Dallas book does not disappoint

I just finished up with the entire series, I read them one after the other. This book is along the same lines with the other books. Same formula different characters and settings. Before I go back and review the other 35 books in the series I just want to say that this series has not gone stale for me at all. There are a couple of disappointing books in there but with 36 books out there that's saying something. Overall I love this series and I DO recommend this series for any crime procedural/romance book lover.
If I'm being honest I received the first book as a gift and was not sure i would like it because I am more of a fantasy/scy fi lover. But this series definitely delivers and with a punch. Susan Ericksen does an AMAZING job reading the book and giving each character their own personality which is a hard thing to do.
So I guess what I want to say is if you are burned out on your current genre or you can't find any new books to read, give this series a go. It is definitely worth every penny/ credit spent
Her first book in the series is "Naked in Death"
HAPPY READING! (Listening)
