The last thing she needs after running from one monster is to land in the lair of the devil.
Twenty-one-year-old Ember flees her past with soot on her face, ash in her hair, and a promise. She'll never let another man take away her freedom and treat her like she means nothing. But that is exactly what Maverick Gunn, leader of the notorious Harbingers of Chaos motorcycle club, seeks to do from the moment his lethal gaze locks on her. He burns her with every look. Every touch. Every word. Ember's only hope is to convince him she's nothing like the woman who blackened his soul before he drags her down into the darkness with him.
Warning: for a mature audience, 18+. Contains adult sexual situations and language.

If I have a choice, I will always pick the audio edition of a book unless the narration is bad. This book was 17 plus hours and I enjoyed every minute. Sometimes when you have a book this long there winds up being a lot of repetition. That was not the case here. A very well written story with a great cast of secondary characters.
Ember. I loved how strong she was and didn't sweat the small stuff. I also loved Lilly and Ivy.
I loved the narration! This is the first time that I have listened to dual narration and it flowed beautifully. It is also the first time I have heard Honey and Leeroy narrate. I will definitely be looking for more books narrated by them. Honey has a very sultry voice which was perfect for this character. Leeroy has a nice deep voice but had very distinctive differences for the different characters, and I had no trouble knowing who was speaking. Excellent!
There were moments of angst along with some tears. Ivy and her cat made me cry. There were also some very funny moments.

This was a great story and interesting listen with the dual narration. The narrators were great and I loved the back and forth narration for each gender dialog. The only confusing part was when the dual narration overlapped. I couldn't tell if it was on purpose or a recording error.
The strong storyline combined with outstanding narration grabs your imagination and doesn't let go for a second. (And don't worry- there are plenty of red-hot scenes, too 😉) Go, go, go! No more wasting your time reading the next hundred reviews that will back me up- just get it already!
What truly makes this a 5 star for me was the narration! When having more than one narrator this is how it should be done. I have not read this book but I can tell you now it would not be the same, there is no way the book could be better than the audio. This started out as a good story but when the dual narration kicks in with each doing their own genre I was wowed away. When the story starts out it is a little confusing you know what is happening and it is bad but you do not know the why of it until much later. It is an audio you won’t be able to put down giving you a very high entertainment that will leave you holding your breath. This starts off with a house burning, a women escaping and on the run it takes you through her paces as she runs from town to town until she stops and the story really takes off.
Mav is something else from the start you just have to step back and so wooooooooo chill man. He has his own story to tell as he lives a battle of his past let made him what he is today. One women tore his world apart another comes into it, she won’t get the chance to do what was done before her. Can one woman give him back his life and hope of a future or will she tear him down?
Ember is way too innocent to be on the run trusting when she should not. Running out of money and her ex hot on her trail she has few options. One cop and one stranger change her life with no turning back she has made her choices for good, bad or even death they have been made. One man she is scared to death of she left behind another steps before her way to handsome for his own good but lord he is even scarier than the one she left behind or is he?
Mav and Ember are very strong characters neither taking much off the other. She needs to stay he wants her gone who will win in this tug of war? Mav comes across as a total jerk where Ember is sweet. They are very much attracted to each other but neither wants the other to know. This was a wonderful MC story that has a touch of everything in it. You have danger, over the top sex, homeless people, and a crazy nut case ex, just everything that makes this an outstanding story.
Honey Scarlett, Leeroy Will narration was out of this world each hitting tones right on the money. You know just who is talking and what they are feeling. For me they made this audio what it is any other narrators would just not do it justice. Honey takes on the life of all the female roles with Lerroy taking on the male. Their many different voices were outstanding never leaving you guessing who was talking and just how they felt. There are no background noises or any places where the volume are higher or lower or tones off. They give you a listen you won’t be able to put down. If they took a break you cannot tell it is just one smooth listen that hooks you from start to finish. I found things to do so I wouldn’t have to turn it off. They made you feel the emotions at times you even wanted to cry and lord did they make you laugh. Just outstanding narration at the finest. I can’t wait to listen to more from this duo.
The author gives a well put together story which is long. With most all story the filler is just too much. Here the author fills it will many different issues and plots as she twist and turn her way through giving you a wonderful listen with lots of danger. There are stories inside of stories with many wonderful characters I can’t wait to read more about. The ending is wow as danger comes to their door. I loved the many different characters as each of them took a piece of my heart. Yep there were bad bikers but had a heart of gold for those they love. Just when you think you have a handle on the story the author changes it blowing your mind. There is always something exciting going on with lots of drama to follow. I found this to be a believable story that really took my breath away. The author gives you a wonderful plot with exciting wonderful characters. This was so outstanding I can hardly wait for the next one to come out.
I have only listened to 6 book prior to this but I loved the narrators
My favorite moment was when Griz called Maverick out after attacking Doll
This was my first time for their performances
I found myself smiling and I did get teary in a couple places of the book
Ember/Doll/Pumpkin and Maverick/Mav/Luce were two souls looking for their place in the world. And definitely looking for a way to heal all the bad hands that they were dealt!
Ember was looking for a hand-out and she was willing to work her way through life, but she just needed a foot in the door. Unfortunately she kept getting the door shut in her face. It didn't help that one look at her and Mav was ready to throw her out on the street. He wasn't ready to face his past and was blaming himself for so much.
Ember was the perfect match for Mav and she was able to hold her own even though she also had a lot of her own demons. The issues that the characters dealt with was defnitely something that people could relate to.
I truly enjoyed the main characters and the other characters added a lot to the story. The make you want more and I look forward to additional stories. from those characters.
Received copy for my honest review!

I haven't read the print version, but I highly doubt it could've been any more perfect than listening to it. I get so much more emotion out of a book by listening. Especially when it's read by two great narrators.
I loved Ember and how strong she was.
Omg, I think I may have found another dual narration couple to love. I have been having a difficult time finding another dual narration that really holds my attention. I love Honey's voice. It's as smooth as, well, honey. And Leeroy has an amazing range of voices. Not one character sounds like the other. His voice was super sexy.
This book was the first of a few things for few. It was the first time I've read an MC Romance. It was the first time I have read this author. And it was the first time I have listened to these two narrators. I have to say I cannot wait to read more. I hope the author sticks with these narrators because they are absolutely perfect. I would also love to read more by this author. The writing was absolutely fantastic and it gave me a clear picture in my mind. Burning Ember was everything I look for in a steamy romance and I can't wait to see what's next.
I love books!
Wow!!! What an awesome book!!! I really didn't want to like Maverick Aka Mav. But with an amazing story line Darby Briar made me fall completely in love with him. Ember is a strong woman who is a survivor. I loved her immediately for the that inner strength she found to change her life. I enjoy books with a woman who can hold her own much more then a woman who needs the man to save her. This book is hot hot hot!!!!!! Steamy sex scenes so hot that if I was reading a paperback the pages would have caught on fire. This is one of the. Set books I've listened to in a long time. It's a lengthy book, 17 hours but in a good way as I didn't want it to end and I am glad it wasn't broken in to two or three books. Honey Scarlett and Leeroy Will did an excellent job bring this book and the characters to life!! Love love loved it!!
This book was gifted to me by the narrators in return for a honest review.
From the onset this book had my attention the duel narration was my first experience of such narration and was amazing both portrayed there characters with such feeling emotion and really were Mav and Ember
There is so much to this book but is a slow burn which may not suit all but each character is well portrayed and you really feel you know them all , Ember is taken in by the MC club as is a potential gift for a biker due to be released from prison. The sight of Ember stirs Mav emotions and its a roller coaster ride as they are both attracted to each other.
As the story evolves the older bikers at the club I loved and I hope I get to listen to there stories also , the last three hours of this book is wow I won't includ any spoilers .
I would 100% recommend this book
"Fantastic duo narration!"
The whole story really demands a lot of thought and composure, but I'm not totally sure I can do that.
This is by far the longest book I've listened to at almost 18 hours, it's taken me a full working week to get through it, and that means a lot to me. My time is very precious. I can never fit enough in as it is, without dedicating myself to this kind of book.
However, from the very beginning, Honey does the most fantastic job in the eyes of Ember to draw you in and totally consume everything you're thinking and feeling. Ember has been through the worst thing you could imagine in life, to be trapped and abused by the man she loved. Stronger than you think she burned the house down and ran for her life, with little money and hardly any belongings.
It is that start out on her own that really sets alight her character, and this is a fantastic shout out to the writer for making her as wonderful and round as she is. She's got issues of course, but she wants to trust and love and that is fab, even if it at first turns to crap with the two women at the shelter.
The journey that Red/Ember embarks on just because some youngster gave her $5 will be one that is full of twists and turns and emotional upheaval that no woman should ever really go through. I'm so in awe of her and I totally love her.
But that does bring me to Mav/Luce... or what ever other name he gets in the beginning.
He's kinda a turn off. He's hurt of course and I do understand that. But the bikers I know, and love. (I'm a biker chic and know some UK gangs) ..... well I just can't see a guy leading a club being like this. I really struggle with his identity at the beginning. It's not something that I can understand. This is I think down to the writer and how she's wanting to portray things, but I think she could have kept his character and given us something to think about without the need to make Mav be as weak and almost just totally stupid in the beginning.
The book and narration on the whole I would never have guessed as being so long. Because I really did enjoy what Ember went through. There was of course hot sex and wanting more towards the middle and that was great. Wonderful attention to detail here. And from both sides of the narration. I wasn't left with anything to think about, because it all was there. Their romance and get together was pretty good.
The religious side to Mav, also didn't bother me too much, though I do wonder if any guy would have taken their new love down to the old house and show them everything that they were so openly, and then totally blow it out the water when Ember's real father and situation come to life... I did also find that a stretch... a dramatic one, but yeah, still a stretch.
Ember also lasting as long as she did, with a full on bullet wound... eeek she's so strong yet so weak.
The last two hours here were fab. I really loved the rescue and the conclusion with Warner. He did deserve to be tortured though....
As for the HEV I'm glad that things worked out for Ember, and the fact she went back to help Ivy, really good. I don't know if there are more stories here, but I really think there is. And I want more.
As long as it was, as complicated as it was, this was one of the most interesting books I've listened to..
Great choice on narrators, and I hope that the author continues to use these so very talented people. They really brought this story to life for me.
:) i hope I can listen to more in the future.
