"I so miss the Camel Club"

It was great to once again listen to the adventures of Oliver Stone and the Camel Club. This is a nice little story. It reminded me of what attracted me to Baldacci's writing in the first place. Baldacci should write more novels for the Camel club series and improve the characters in his latest series. In the Camel club novels we know a bit about the history of all the characters even Oliver, but in the King Maxwell and Robie Real we pretty much just known the dysfunctional background of the female characters which plays into their emotional swings. In this short story Baldacci proves he can still write good characters and plots.

What's not to like when you combine two great series. I sure miss the Camel Club. I'd love to see another book in that series.

If you could sum up Bullseye in three words, what would they be?

Great to get two outstanding characters merged into one novel.

What did you like best about this story?

    The characters

What about Ron McLarty’s performance did you like?

Outstanding! One of my favorite narrators.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Yes.

    Any additional comments?

Would love full novels that cross mingle Baldacci other characters. Like how Michael Connelly does...

I enjoyed this short mix of The Camel Club and Will Robie. I hope there will be more of the two intertwined. I am looking forward to more and hope the wait won't be too long.

I am a working mom and wife and don't have much time to read books, so listening to them in the car is my new hobby!

    "Not my favorite"
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

For a short story, it was ok. It was not my favorite Baldacci story, but that's ok. It was entertaining. I would not waste a credit on it, but if you get it free- it's worth listening to.

"Camel club may still be around..."
What did you love best about Bullseye?

Spoiler alert....if you have not read the last of the trilogy stop reading....I may be off on my time clock but, stone may still be around. Finn is back, Annabelle with all her cash is here too. Finally, all those old fa*ts can start living in a custom I want them to. After kicking so much arse, they deserve it. Excellent short story, I'm looking for more. I fully expect Annabelle, Finn and the club to move this forward. Baldacci, the rose just about lost it's bloom. I'm done with our club doing all the work, living in semi-acceptable quarters.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

    Yes. Read above.

What about Ron McLarty’s performance did you like?

    Everything.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, It was a short story.

    Any additional comments?

Suspend disbelief, enjoy it. Dallas dream act, bring back the team with young Finn and Annabelle starting a new series--stone and the gang... Glad baldacci isn't moving closer to some authors who pontificate about the reality of our world, boring the heck out of me....I can always buy or listen to a newspaper for that.

    "Oliver Stone and Will Robie?"

Yeah, that's a dream book. I'm hoping this is a prelude to a longer book where the two join forces. That would be amazing!

I like the fact that he merged Will Robin and Camel Club, the only problem with the story is that it too short. It left me wanting more!

    "Marry Me, Will Robie!"
If you could sum up Bullseye in three words, what would they be?

    Robie and Stone!

What did you like best about this story?

Favorite characters together, what's not to love? I mean there's hunky, straight-laced Alex Ford, Finn what's-his-name who is starting to be somebody, Will Robie without my competition the rogue spy-girl, Annabelle, whom I love like a sister, and dear Oliver, whom I might also marry since he is the old soldier with all the experience and horror in his past. The plot is plausible, the bad guys are believable, Stone and Robie meet and work together a little better than a young lion might with the old lion, and the camel club is there. You didn't ask what the worst thing about the story is, well, it is that this is a SHORT STORY! I knew that going in, so wasn't disappointed, and in fact, Baldacci did an amazing job developing it all in just 2 hours! It helped that the characters were already developed and familiar to us, so they could just get to work. But why, why did he kill Charlie?

Which character – as performed by Ron McLarty – was your favorite?

They are all good. His voicing is great all around.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I did laugh at some of the lines between the lions, inside humor and all.

    Any additional comments?

I wish I had been in the bank when the robbery went down. I wouldn't have cried or puked; I could have helped! I could have been part of it! I could have gone home with Will!

    "Camel Club Confession"

I am a huge Baldacci fan, from way back, and have enjoyed most of his books. But for some reason I could not get into the Camel Club. Years later, after reading several Will Robbie books come this crossover book.

It has an immediate start that gets my attention, the way I like for a book to start, and I enjoyed it thoroughly. Guess it's time to revisit the Camel Club. [Smile]
