So Carlotta Wren's life hasn't turned out as she'd planned. She didn't plan for her parents to skip bail for a white-collar crime, leaving her to raise her brother. She didn't plan on having the silver spoon ripped from her mouth and forgoing college to work retail. She didn't plan on her blue-blood fiancé dumping her. And she didn't plan on still being single 10 years later, working at Neiman Marcus, with no idea where her fugitive parents are. But she's coping. Until -
- her lovable brother is arrested, and the hunky cop decides to reopen her parents' case.
- her brother becomes a body mover for the morgue, and his sexy boss gets Carlotta involved.
- her former fiancé's wife (a good customer) is murdered, fingering Carlotta.
With three men in her life, Carlotta has added motivation to help bag a murderer to keep her own well-dressed body from being next on the list!

This is the first mystery I've ever read that is on the spicy side. Nothing gross but it is sexy.
The narrator is very good but her pronunciation of the word "garage" bugs me to pieces! Ugh!
But listen anyway because it's a great story and I can't wait to listen to the next one!
I downloaded this book waiting for another one I had reserved to come in. I wasn't initially excited about it, but soon fell in love with the plot, twists and turns! I can't wait to listen to the next sequel!
I felt very sorry for the main character through the whole book. The reviews called it funny. There was no funny for me. The heroine was so mired down in horrible situations that you could not see ANY happy ending for her. I don't think I will continue with the series.
I love this writer and always have fun with her engaging, spicy & real storytelling. I also really like this narrator HOWEVER, I read the reviewers annoyance with her pronunciation of Garage and scoffed originally. NO. It is unbelievably annoying - how in the world would someone in this business not KNOW how that diction would distract and be abrasive?! Wow. It's become the joke in our home - but, oh my, I hope our fearless heroine spends less time in garages moving forward!
Honestly, everytime I heard the narrator say the word "garage" I wanted to punch her in the face with my foot. It was distracting and really took away from the story, since whenever she said it I thought about it for at least 30 seconds and missed whatever came next in the story.
I am definitely in for the long haul with this series! After several duds from Amazon/Audible, I'm excited to find another series to invest in!
Even though I don't prefer stories from the third person point of view, I was still able to get inside the characters' heads.
The balance between Carlotta's story and Wesley's story was perfect. They intertwined gracefully.
The whodunit was unexpected, but believable. The motive was a little weak, but that's not stopping me from getting the next one!
This book had just the right amount of mystery and just the right amount of romance.
I only gave 4 stars to the performance because of the narrator's pronunciation of the word "garage." Definitely not a Georgian girl!
