Excellent Who-Done-It

Connelly is brilliant in this earlier novel. I wish there had been more with this character in future novels.

Keeps you guessing and has you rooting for the good guy. Definitely worth the listen.

Dick Hill is good. Lots of inflection, and his various throat noises are hilarious at times. Not that they maybe should be...

Blood Work

I thought the performer’s accents were a little corny, but fortunately the story was compelling. Michael Connelly is a great writer, but NOBODY compared to Harry Bosch!

"Lots of fish out there."

A new series from Michael Connelly, author of the Bosch books.
Terry McCaleb used to be an TH I agent with a proven track record for profiling, but retired on medical grounds. After a two year wait, and just in time, he received a new heart to replace his failing one. Right weeks later, the sister of the donor comes to see him to get his help in finding the person who murdered her.

As usual, the characters of the protagonists are strongly developed as the story progresses, and the plot line leads to some u expected places. Not quite as personable as the Lincoln Laser nor as comfortable an old friend as Bosch, but it's early days yet and McCaleb will hopefully continue to grow, together with his houseboat neighbour and great character, Buddy. Good performance, too, by narrator Dick Hill.

A must for al! Connelly fans and everyone who enjoys mystery detective thrillers. Recommended.

Another Connelly Classic

I avoided listening to this book for years because I thought I already read it. It is just as good as every other Connelly book. It was definitely worth the credit!!

Great narration! Intriguing story.

This is my first Michael Connelly book. I was happily surprised to find another fantastic author. Unlike some thriller authors, this book had some very unique dialogue for each character, so that was refreshing. I also very much liked the various ways the narrator depicted each character. Amazing talent there!

The story took some time to built tension for me, which is why I gave the story a rating of 4 of of 5. But in the end, the story carried me to a very satisfying feeling similar to Shawshank Redemption, which I love.

Great Listen If You Suspend Disbelief

This is one of those books that provides an enjoyable listen and maintains your interest. The conclusions McCaleb makes that allow him to get to the bottom of things would be a daunting challenge for a modern day computer provided with the same data. I still enjoyed the book and think most readers will too. Dick Hill does a great job with the narration and remains one of my favorites. Well worth a credit.
