Publisher's summary

From number one New York Times best-selling author Brad Thor comes his most explosive thriller yet. Packed with action, intrigue, and sublime plotting, Black List is the ultimate tale of deception in a world where "even in death" secrets can no longer be kept.

Somewhere, deep inside the United States government, is a deadly list. Members of Congress never get to see it and only the president has the final say over it. Once your name is on the list, it doesn't come off - until you're dead.

Someone has just added counterterrorism operative Scot Harvath's name to the list.

Somehow, Harvath must evade the teams dispatched to kill him long enough to untangle who has framed him for treason and why they want him out of the way.

Somewhere, someone, somehow can put all the pieces together. The only question is: Will Harvath get to that person before the United States comes under the most withering domestic terrorist attack ever conceived?

One of the best Scot Harvath's yet!

Where does Black List rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

So far Black List ranks up at the top of the list of audiobooks I've listened to so far. Armand Schultz does a tremendous job of changing his voice for each character that by the end of the book you know them so well.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Black List?

Most memorable moment is going back to the old "form" of espionage.....the "old man" Charlton getting into the action, goes back to his roots and is able to communicate with others through not-so-modern techniques.

Have you listened to any of Armand Schultz’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Compares to all the other Harvath novels I have listened to so far.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

What do you do when all the things you know come crashing around you....can't turn to the government for help, cause they're after you too....who do you turn to? The Old Man

A different Scot Harvath series novel

With the 16th novel in the Scot Harvath series by Brad Thor being released in exactly two months, I decided to write a brief review of one of one of the earlier novels in the series. The new novel is titled Use of Force and is currently available for pre-order at Audible.. The narrator has not been announced so I hope that Armand Schultz will be replaced, possibly by George Guidall who did narrate 4 earlier novels in the series.

In most of the novels in this series Harvath has worked outside of the US. In The Lions of Lucerne, the first novel in the series when Harvath was in the Secret Service and on the personal protection detail of the president's family, over half of the book was set in Europe tracking down the people who had attempted to kill member of the president's family. Black List, released in 2011 is set in the US and deals with issues of personal privacy invasion by government. The Scot Harvath series is among the very best of espionage thrillers.

black list

What made the experience of listening to Black List the most enjoyable?

enjoyable because the situation of power being abused often occurs in more ways than one....

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

the moment that moved me was when book explained that innocent people can be seen as guilty ,,,even when they not. and some time the limited options to clear their name when the reasons are fabricated can be hell and life changing.

Great true to life story, ruined by Armand Schultz

If you could sum up Black List in three words, what would they be?

What the ****

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The plot was very real. Very true to life. I'm glad someone finally wrote a book about it.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Armand Schultz?

Dick Hill, or George Guidall.. anybody but Schultz. He can't do voices. The Russian Dwarf sounded like a 6 year old american schoolboy. I'll never get another Brad Thor book if he keeps using Armand.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

The end of freedom

Any additional comments?

Most audial book listeners I know prefer a good narrator to a good book, The narrator can make a so so book into a good book if he is good and a bad narrator can destroy a good book. I can't believe Brad Thor doesn't know the difference.

Another tour de force starring our intrepid hero Scott Harvath. When will someone option the movie rights? Scott is up there in the pantheon of action heroes. Now I'll have just delve into the next book of the series.

Good, but not the best plot.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This book is definitely worth the time. I think anyone that enjoys this series will like it. I do believe that it is not the best book in the series though. Even the villains were just ok. You never fully get behind hating them.

Gripping and a “page turner”

I’ve been listening to this whole series and found this book to be particularly entertaining. I didn’t want to stop listening as each part really moved at a quick and exciting pace.
