The tradition lives on!

I was only previously familiar with Mark Greaney as a co-author with Tom Clancy. On that bases, I took the chance & bought "Ballistic" on an "Audible" sale. Now having listened to "Balistic", I think Greaney follows Clancy's proven standard for action packed, thriller, escape novels. There is plenty of action without gore, clever situations for good guys to outsmart bad guys -- yeah!, & a hint of romance but not uncomfortable. I am happy the tradition lives on!

The narrator was a new voice to me & it was easy to listen to his different voices for different characters. As I indicated by my star ratings, I enjoyed this "action" story but didn't find it sophisticated nor surprising. That said, "Ballistic " is worth the listen.

Good story. Only a "little" preposterous.

Good story. It's similar in many ways to the Jack Reacher series. Unfortunately, that series became utterly preposterous and equally predictable. This story had similar sections that bent credulity. But, generally not to the extent or frequency of the Reacher novels. The bodies in the Reacher novels are starting to rot. Here, things still seem kind of fresh.

Tantalizing

The narration was great. The storyline kept me on the edge of my seat waiting to hear what was going to happen next. I didn't want to stop listening. I didn't want to go to bed. but I had to and started listening again first thing again the next morning and finished after work. I love the grey man books. they're exciting and keep me engaged, not boring like some other audio books I've heard. Excellent read in the Grey man series.

On the level of Vince Flynn novels.

Great story and performance. Greaney is underrated as a writer. This series is on the level of Mitch Rapp.

A crazy fun read

The Gray Man wages a one-man war on the drug cartels south of the border. It's non-stop action, as one comes to expect from the series, but this book shows just how smart Gentry is. He has to stay in front of many, many forces out to kill him. At the start of the book he's just trying to stay alive. But once he's motivated to take more practice action, it's not long before the bad guys are running for cover. This makes for a frenetic level of action and a crazy fun read.
