Longmire is Great

Johnson does such a great job weaving these stories and the reading is done so well that it's like talking with the characters.

another endearing and exciting Longmire story

This was another entertaining, beloved story of many new lovely characters. We meet Lolo Long whos it the new Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation Tribal Police and a Vet like Longmire. Their interactions from frenemies to allies to more was very intriguing. I love how Craig Johnson nurtures these interracial relationships while paying respect to the various Indigenous cultures. Also the side quest was Longmire trying to arrange Kady's wedding, and that was hilarious.

Not one of his best.

Long winded. Just to many details. Story line more complicated than need be. Performance great.

Best Epilogue

Typical of all Longmire yarns, this one includes Walt's daughter's wedding. Added to the story in a good way.

Not Johnson’s Best

Story line was a bit shallow and, at times, hard to follow. Narration was outstanding!

Johnson just gets better and better

After Hell Is Empty, I didn't think that Craig Johnson could get better, but I was wrong. While As the Crow Flies isn't as "literary" as its predecessor, it is a wonderful piece of writing.

The new characters are a delight. Lolo is great and I really appreciate her interaction not only with Walt but with her mother (who knows how to deal with her). I hope she will be back so we can see her mature into a fine police officer. I missed Vic in this one, but it was good to have Henry back full time. Dog was also a welcome inclusion this time.

Johnson's strength is in his characters. I know these people, and for the most part, I like them very much. I would know them if I met them on the street. I want to know them better, and he allows them to grow. Lonnie (Lonny?) is a much more mature character than he was in The Cold Dish, and I'm enjoying his new responsibilities as much as he is frustrated by them. Yes, it is so.

The plot had me completely in the dark until the last 30 minutes of the audio (or so). It wasn't as all what I was expecting, and that's all I'll say about that!! As usual the plot is logical when worked backwards.

The only thing wrong with the book is that I have finished it. Now I'm going back through the series again, just to reacquaint myself with the people. Then I suppose I'll just have to wait another year for another book.

(Other reviewers have explained the basic plot, so I will refrain from repeating them.)

Longmire Series is one of the Best!

I would have given 5 stars, but there are 1 or 2 other stories in the Longmire series that are even better. This series is outstanding -- whether you are listening on Audible or watching on Netflix. I entertain myself by doing both with equal enjoyment. I would normally dread the day I finish a series, but I intend to just start over with Book 1 and go through them again. Even though the stories are clever and require lots of thought to figure them out, I would still love them if I knew who did it on page 2.

Walt and Henry Standing Bear are beyond comparison with other series' characters. I can only sum it up as -- I just love them!!

I am running out of Superlatives for Walt Longmire

Wonderful, fabulous, amazing. I need to get a thesaurus out to find some more words. I love this series and have read/listened to every single one of them. George Guidall is also delightful and does a wonderful job narrating the books. Can't wait for the next one to come out. I love Walt's insight into people. I love his relationship with Henry Standing Bear, Vic, Ruby, and the older sheriff. The plots of Craig Johnson's books are great and the character development is really good too. I can't say enough good things about these books.
