Love the humor!

My husband and I love listening to Craig Johnson books in the car, we love the humor and wit along with the descriptive details of the different areas of Wyoming. His story lines are very captivating and well written. The reader does an excellent job in portraying Walt Longmire. The books are way better and more interesting than the TV series. (Even though I am a fan of the show).

Not my favorite.

I loved all the other Walt Longmire books but this one is not my favorite. I just couldn't get into the story at times. I honestly thought this one was boring. I suppose in every series that has to be one that is the least favorite and this is mine. George Guidell was excellent as always.

All Enjoyable

I don't know why this series, this author, and especially this narrator don't get more attention. They are truly wonderful!! The sheriff is not a young, hard, good looking law enforcement and the stars in the stories aren't jumping in and out of each other's beds. But this series is suspenseful, intriguing, and delightful to listen to. You won't waste your credit on any of this series!

Both Mystery and Character development

This novel, while being an excellent mystery, also develops the backstory of Longmire and his friend Bear. The flashbacks to Vietnam really add depth to both characters and their long friendship. Extremely well done.

wonderful

George Guidall is the best narrator in the business! I want to enjoy his audio for all of these. The Longmire mystery series is a treasure trove and this book does not disappoint. Fascinating exploration of the Vietnam experiences of Walt and Henry, interwoven with (spoiler alert) modern day horrors of human trafficking. Highly recommended.

A journey into the past

Another excellent story from Craig Johnson. Also George Guidell sings. It doesn't get any better.

A lot of Walt's back story

It was very interesting to learn more about Walter's younger life. Since I was a college student demonstrating against the Vietnam War during this period and owning it in my own way, I appreciate Johnson's revisit to our this time in country's history.

Love the Longmire Series!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This was another great installment of the Walt Longmire mysteries. Not only does the mystery and suspense keep you engaged, but the characters are so vivid. I wish they were real people! Particuarly love Walt's relationships with Henry Standing Bear and Vic.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Great plot. I loved the two mysteries in one format.

Powerful rememorances

The Longmire novels all have strong spirit ties to American Indian cultures. This story ties Walt to his memories of Vietnam which fills in lots of background for the characters history.
As a Vietnam vet the story was written with assistance from someone who was there. A moving story told as only Craig Johnson can.

A mystery combined with a memory of Viet Nam.

Good story with 2 mysteries: one present day, the other one a memory from Longmire 's service in Vietnam.
