Suffering from bald patches thanks to a hair conditioner spiked with depilatory cream - supplied by the murderess in her last investigation - Agatha escapes to the coastal resort of Wyckhadden to allow her crowning glory to recover in privacy. A local witch provides her with hair tonic and Agatha’s lost locks begin to grow - but then the witch is found bludgeoned to death. The elderly residents at Agatha’s faded hotel seem innocuous enough, if a little odd. But, as she enquires into the murder she turns up an alarming number of secrets....

Yes. I've been reading this series in order, and have enjoyed each of the previous eight books, but this is the best so far. It combines hilarious physical comedy (not easy to do when working with a two-dimensional page), pathos, mystery, and moments of genuine suspense.
When Agatha loses her wig, finds the first body.
Penelope Keith is brilliant, she can do both male and female voices beautifully, has impeccable timing, and pronunciation.
Agatha Raisin is a complicated 'real' character. The author has created a woman with tragic faults and doesn't 'fix' them. Though Agatha has grown to be a better person, that growth is slow, realistic, believable. Agatha always makes the same stupid mistakes with men, because she follows the 'fault line' of the personality Beaton has created for her. These books are fun.
I enjoyed Agatha's adventures in Wyckhadden, but I wish she would make better decisions in her personal life.
Besides Agatha! Charles was on hand again when needed....I love it whenever Agatha has a should to cry on. He really is a great support to Agatha....I am glad this has never developed into an actual romantic relationship.
She is 'the' Agatha Raisin. No one can compare to her...she is fantastic. She does for Agatha what David Suchet does for Poirot!
When Agatha feels at her lowest...charles shows up! Never gets old.
Loved the book.
The first Agatha raisin books were longer, now they seem to get shorter and shorter, with the solving of the murder coming too quickly just before the end. Still good books, they just go by too fast.
I enjoyed the story. I enjoyed Agatha branching out. Feels unfortunate that she is still suffering from some of the same Agatha maladies but I think we all know and love them and I've come to expect it. The recording on this one had some very strange and unceremonious pauses. The seem to serve only to disrupt my listening pleasure. Does anyone do a quality check on these before they roll them out?
I found this story enjoyable enough to listen almost straight through. Agatha is such a character--flawed but fearless. I like her even when she isnt likable.
Penelope Keith's narration makes the characters come alive. I have pictures of them in my mind which didnt match at all wih the filmed series.
My only problem was the recording itself. It had annoying and awkward stops and starts as if it was being recorded from disks and in fact at one point it said "end of disk 1". This was the first time I've noticed this in these audible editions so hopefully it wont occur again.
I'm in my mid 60s and Love Audible, I'm trying many different types/styles of Audio books, I'm Dyslexic so Audible is wonderful,Love Audible
I'm really Enjoying this Series, Agatha is such a Loveable misfit , she and James Love each other but just can't get it Right, Penelope Keith is an Excellent Narrator, already got the next Audible book.....
I've enjoyed the previous books in the series, but this installment was my least favorite so far. Some of the plot devices in the beginning were so far fetched that I almost stopped listening. I agree with the other reviewer who wished Agatha made better choices.
The editing/production was bad - many unusually long pauses between & in the middle of sentences & between paragraphs. I wish there was a way to rate that without dinging the author.
Another good tale of the adventures of Agatha Raisin. lighthearted and fun. Penelope Keith is a very good reader, her accents are sometimes not perfect but hey you get the picture. I have enjoyed this story.
