The first woman ever hired by legendary defense lawyer Matthew Reynolds, Tracy Cavanaugh cuts her teeth on a horrifying crime: the car-bomb murder of Oregon Supreme Court Justice Robert Griffen. Reynolds's client - and the chief suspect - is none other than the icy but celebrated prosecutor Abigail Griffen, the Justice's estranged wife. Tracy's research plunges her into a web of betrayal and revenge, of secret deals and hidden passions. At the heart of the case lies a twisted truth - and when the verdict comes in, she will discover that nothing is as it seems...after dark.

I have read several titles by Phillip Margolin and was disappointed in After Dark. The plot was too predictable and at times I felt like I was reading a romance novel instead of a legal mystery. I was not drawn into this story at all.
Sassy dialogue, humor, and a great reader are important to me.
Oh yes to catch all the clues I had missed. This is not my usual genre. I am a romance listener and this story has a underlying romance so it was a great listen. ROMANCE listeners take note. THIS is a do not miss as it has everything to leave you with, a WOW feeling.
Ok, I am on an Angela Dawes run. Warning, it takes a bit to get use to her female voice, but she does a knock job on the males voices that I have purchased over 10 listens on this last holiday sale, including this book. Oh what a great find this was. I love Jonathan Davis, Sandra brown's Mean Streak, so next P.M. Book will be a J.D. Read. Don't miss Mean Streak if you like BOTH romance and mystery.
Epilogue, you may need a tissue.
This one did make me cry! Good over good, that is the question! This story proves doing the right thing can hurt your soul.
Do not be put off by the few reviews that this book had. NOW, if you are a John LeCarre fan or a hard core Michael Connely fan, this may not be for you. This was pure entertainment and a mystery that kept me glued to the listen.
I get so excited sometimes about writing a review..good or bad...that why sometimes I misspell words..lol..
This is the first book I read by Phillip Margolin. I think it was jus ok. Nothing to surprising.
