In the green depths of spring, morning breaks on a woman splayed in a bed of flowers - her eyes wide, her neck broken. Her death is a mystery; so is the woman herself. But as Chief Inspector Armand Gamache and his team peer into the dark corners of the victim's past, they expose a secret that rots at the very heart of their community - a secret that will implicate someone they've trusted for years. And as Gamache knows too well, in the flickering shadows of death, the truth may be just a trick of the light.

I enjoyed this book immensely, as I enjoy all Louise Penny's books. The characters are so real I feel I know them personally! She creates an atmosphere into which you disappear completely!
"Disjointed and boring"
From the start I found distinguishing between the numerous characters very difficult. It was some pages before I even realised the setting was Canada and not France! Apart from the murder towards the beginning of the novel, nothing happened of any interest whatsoever for a long time.
The book was not really a murder mystery but a look into the various characteristics of the many characters.
There was nothing marvelous nor gripping about this book.
