Love the Longmire Heart

Where does A Serpent's Tooth rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

While not my favorite in Johnson's series, I still enjoy everything about Walt, Henry, and even the potty-mouthed Victoria. The warmth and humor of these characters makes me yearn for their company when I'm not with them. This story of a "polygamous lost boy" is a tender one. Just sad that the past and the present practices of Mormons continue to exist in a blender. Nevertheless, I'm not a thin-skinned Mormon who can't laugh at a bit 'o ribbing. I'll keep reading as long as Craig Johnson keeps writing!

What does George Guidall bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

And George - what can I say? He is one of my top top top narrators and brings every single character - male or female - to life, capturing every nuance of each personality. I've chosen to listen to some titles just because George reads the stories. He makes even "okay" books better.

Nice but a lot going on

The story is nice, unfortunately for me it took a little bit longer than I expected to get into the book and enjoy it. There is a lot going on and many different characters so at one point I was lost with the story, it could be that this is the 9th book in a series that I haven't listened to yet, but I didn't enjoy it that much to listen to the first 8 books. To me the book was didn't have the kind of suspense and mystery that I like. Some parts I was into, such as the mystery behind the strange boy who likes horses, and the mystery behind the disappearing daughter and father, but it really wasn't until the last chapter did I actually understand everything that was going on in the book.

Wyoming Adventure

What about George Guidall’s performance did you like?

His voice at first I thought was going to annoy me and then I quickly got into the book and started to enjoy his performance! He never used an obnoxious voice for any of the characters which drives me nuts with other books sometimes!

Any additional comments?

I loved listening to this book, but I think it also hit home with me. I'm from Utah originally and spent a lot of time in Wyoming so completely know all of the culture. I don't think I would have enjoyed this much without this prior knowledge. Also an ex-mormon I enjoyed listening to their talk of LDS and LDS break off religions without just completely bashing on them. I enjoyed and might consider another book from this author, but it wouldn't be on the top of my list.

Even better than the first book!!!

Outstanding book!! Many series get repetitive and predictable by the 9th book. Not Longmire and company. A serpents tooth is actually the best one yet. George Guidall's performance is spot on perfect. This is without a doubt my favorite series of all. Will be waiting impatiently for the next book.

I just may try another book in the series....

An odd little detective saga that takes place in the West. Mormons, Indians, Sherriff and gunslingers up to a little mischief.

Bought the book not realizing its nine of a series.

An enjoyable read none the less.

New Favorite

Loved it, loved crocheting, doing dishes, even cleaning bathrooms to it. My favorite Longmire yet. Thank you Mr. Johnson for such transporting stories, and, may I call you George, George, for no matter what I'm doing, your storytelling has me sitting by a warm fire, covered in a quilt, and your voice in my ears is perfect heaven on Earth. Thank you both...

I have passed many hours on the roads throughly entertained.

Highly recommend this book and series and Mr. Guidall has made it that much more enjoyable. Many hours on the road spent listening to this series and it was worth every minute.

As usual....

Once again, another great book. I love the narration by Mr. Guidall, as well.
The description of the landscape and characters really bring the story to life.

Another solid entry

You don't read yet another Walt Longmire book for the inevitable convoluted yet forgettable plot. It's about characters you enjoy spending time with, dialog, relationships, and a certain feeling you enjoy. This book had all of these elements.
