Publisher's summary

This holiday trip to Dublin had been very hard on Doyle’s husband - although he was making a monumental effort to disguise this fact - and unless she very much missed her guess, it was all somehow connected to the grisly murder on the station house steps. That, and an African cabdriver who wore a jaunty tam-o’-shanter.

It's not the best. But ok.

This book does not have the depth of intrigue with the plot twists as the previous.

A third narrator!

In order to enjoy a series of books, one needs to feel that there is continuity. For some reason they’ve changed narrators yet again. It’s a bit hard to adjust. This book does not have the depth and intrigue of the others. However, it’s a pleasant listen. There is one absolutely glaring problem: Reynolds keeps pronouncing Madame as, maDom! Not English at all! This certainly should have been corrected because, it is jarring every time.

Narrator changes make a difference!

Understanding that lots of factors effect who narrates the books, for someone who is 7 or 8 books into a series, has formed a mental image of characters including their voice. A great feature of the Outlander books is that narrator Davina Porter is a constant. Makes a big difference.

Just OK for me

The narrator was different, and I never got used to her. She pronounced some words wrong - not in the way of the character, just wrong. And it was personal. That is always presented like it's a good thing for the plot, but not for me. That means the victim, criminal, killer, stalker, stalked, whatever, is the spouse, ex, partner, co-worker, friend, neighbor, pet,.... The story was a bit convoluted, or maybe I wasn't paying attention. At one point the main character had an 'ah ha' moment and I didn't get it. I will try to next book, but I just didn't take to this story.

Pronunciation Errors

Rebecca Fern has a delightful reading voice, giving a credible change for different characters. The performance would be augmented if someone checked to assure correct pronunciation of some words in the text before official submission.

Disappointing reader

Festin is nowhere near as good as reader and so was disappointing. The story was pretty good and enjoyable.

Enjoy the Writer disliked the Narrator.

I always look forward to the new Acton and Doyle audiobooks. I have them on my i phone ready to listen to on my long drives.
Not this one once was more than enough. Please bring back Marnye Young or find a better narrator.

Needs re-new narrator

The story is about an Irish girl and a British man..it requires Marcella Riordan especially or Marne Young!!
I love the series and more so when the accents are accurate.

Not her best

Can’t believe writer will allow such bad narrator! From bad to worse! I was not crazy about the first narrator but compared to the the second and third she was the best
