While keeping her eye on her good friend Harry, Angie will have to shift through the evidence and find the ruthless murderer.

In doing so she will also become a target. Unless she is careful, intelligent, and ruthless, Canterly will not be the only murder victim in this small, tightly knit community.

Enjoyable read

The story was good but it was the narration that made the story move and flow for me. Seems like chick lit ... so I would recommend this for gals who want an easy listening experience. A nice cozy mystery!

Nearly inoffensive

What did you like best about Murder at Green Meadows? What did you like least?

I liked that the female protagonist had interests and was thinking ahead about her future employment opportunities rather than just letting circumstances direct her.
I found the description and attitude toward the "murder" victim, who is depicted as morbidly obese, offensive and insensitive. This is the type of attitude and interaction that adds to the misery of many who struggle with problems with achieving healthy eating habits. Calling someone "Fatty" as a nickname is indicative of an inconsiderate nature...very unappealing.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

A good editor would help make the presentation more enjoyable.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

The narration was satisfactory.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

I would not go see this book made into a movie. I really like stories in which I learn something new or meet a character I enjoy, admire or can be warned about ! I just couldn't believe in Angie ( a grown woman, depicted as a bright entrepeneur) who does "cheerleader kicks" and calls people childish names.

Enjoyable read!

This was a great cozy mystery! The story line was good. Jessica Woodridge is a thought provoking writer. Laura Jennings is a phenomenal reader!

There were some things I very much liked about this book. The author used an ingenious twist to end the book and resolve the puzzle, and while I suspected what was coming, I wasn’t entirely sure until just before it came. In addition, she played fair with her readers, and inserted her hints and clues with subtlety, while distributing just enough red herrings to cause doubt and sidetrack the reader.

In addition, the author has a very lovely sense of place. She brings life to her setting, and portrays it with sensitivity and charm, making it a place in which it was very nice to spend a mental vacation.

However, although this was a nice, quick little mystery, and certainly an excellent way to while away a leisurely afternoon, I found most of the characters too one dimensional for my taste, and some of the outcomes to the side stories almost to prettily resolved. The “good” characters were a bit *too* good, and her main character verged on being a Pollyanna, which detracted from her interest. The bad characters were, despite their rather delightful villainousness just *too* villainous.

What really detracted me from the book, though, was the rate of speech used by the narrator. I kept having the feeling that she wanted to cram as many words into as little time as she possibly could, and this rush to complete the book made it less than pleasant to read. This is too bad, too, because I think that if this narrator took her time, she would give an excellent performance. Her enunciation was perfect, as was her voicing and differentiation of the characters.

I give both book and narrator 3 out of 5 stars.

Unlikable Mean Victim Surprise Ending

Would you listen to Murder at Green Meadows again? Why?

I would only if the only books available to me were all books that I had previously read.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The plot keep me guessing but not at the edge of my seat.

Angie playing tennis WII

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The surprise ending.

This was a good who done it with a surprise though not unexpected ending. Angie has been invited to interview her previous boss not so affectionately known as "FAT Freddy"

Freddy is an obnoxious Newspaper owner who is politically incorrect, grossly obese, has bad table manors and personal hygiene and is an arrogant snob. He takes delight in ruining people. He defends his two spoiled grandsons who are as unlikable as Freddy himself. In short he is a mean obnoxious person with lots of power and many enemies.

During the interview at the golf course Freedy collapses and is dead from an apparent heart attack which turns out to be poison. Angie is framed. Angie and a friend and colleague Harry Landon investigate the murder. In the process there are attempts on Angies life.

One scene which I wondered about was junk yard dog interaction between Harry and Angie's boyfriend. Those two really do not like each other. I'm wondering is something going develop from this instinctual disdain in future books as the scene didn't quite fit into this book.

Over all this was an enjoyable easy listen with a surprise ending.

Murder this book is good

Murder at Green Meadows: An Angie Walker Cozy Mystery by Jessica Woodridge is a what it says it is: A Cozy Mystery! It is that good, but not perfect in any sauce! 4 hrs and 30 mins is to short to make me super interested.

Laura Jennings is good to, she reads it a bit slow and methodical. I like her voice work, i do but it is not the best ever!

Easy listening

This was a good story and I really enjoyed the narrator. I was gifted this audiobook for a honest review. I look forward to more in the series.

Entertaining start to a new series

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, because the mystery is entertaining and fun. The narrator's voice is easy to listen to.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I liked Angie as she is capable of looking after herself. She gets angry instead of crying when her life is threatened and she doesn't hesitate in shooting her gun when the occasion demands it.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I liked the gallows humour running through the story.

Nice cozy mystery

This was an easy read. It was a cozy little mystery for those relaxing lazy days. Nothing to intense but mild and enjoyable. The narrator did a good job also.

Good light read wrapped around a solid mystery

Who was your favorite character and why?

Angie. When most female characters are portrayed as neurotic, anxious, self-conscious, and capricious, Angie is a refreshingly positive change.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes. Near the end when Harry reassures Angie. It's heartwarming and reveals a deep truth about human nature and morality. Not something you'd expect in a light read like this but very welcome!
