Didn’t expect to be that good!

I am very pleasantly situated at how entertaining this book was. The synopsis does not do it justice. I’m a big sci-fi nerd so I was game to give this a shot and I definitely want more. This has everything a sci-fi nerd would love… you got aliens, AI, space ships, magic, gods, space battles, and much more. I’m on to the second book now! I recommend giving it a shot! My one and only gripe is the repeated listing of the characters resources and attributes. The listing gets a little old but after a while you see it plays a role in the story. I didn’t quite get this until “The Great Game” is brought up and it begins to make sense.

Bit short

It’s a bit short if you ask me.
The time skips are long and could be easily filled with a little busy work and things could be slowed down a lot.
Like for instance you could show the daily life on the “mage hold” or actually fight something instead of ether almost instantly killing a whole army or befriending a whole civilization.
Overall it has a lot of potential but you just need to focus more on the in between and lengthening the story out because although flavor is nice, you need something to fill you and give sustenance to the story otherwise it’s just a pile of salt instead of a gourmet steak.

Thought Provoking

This was an extremely interesting book and a quality mix of just about every fantasy related genre that the author could dream up.

This is a very layered book… very very layered. Questions are continuously being raised throughout and as you continue on, wondering just what in the actual cuss is going on, one of those questions gets answered, then another, and then another. This leaves you satisfied when the previous questions, WTF moments, or confusing elements is clarified as the story starts to come together. The “ah ha!” Moments really adds to the story overall and makes for a worthwhile ride.

However, as it all starts coming together, more questions are raised and more twists are thrown in, leaving you wondering and pondering where the story will go.

I feel the best part is the replay ability of the book, the story is solid and the narrator did an excellent job bringing it to life. I will definitely listen to it a second and possibly third time to fully grasp the story.

I look forward to the future installments.

Way to long building the plot

Been listening for hours and it starting to feel like blah blah blah. Need to go faster

Pretty good listen.

The MC was irritating at times but if you stick with it you will find it's worth it.The sometimes wild Mc is integral to the story line. The story takes some interesting turns.

The narration was very good.

Petulant manchild

The mc without a doubt is a petulant man child. this entire book is just him being an insane murder hobo and him getting his ass kicked every other chapter.

Missed opportunity

the whole book was one missed opportunity after another, there are pretty constant contradictions, and character development that led to the character having to learn the same lessons over again.

so the writing isn't great but there a lot cool ideas and material, just poorly implemented.

the reader in the audio doesn't seem to have a lot of range but is pretty solid.

will not continue this series but would be open to future endeavors by the author.
