Publisher's summary

You probably won’t like my story. Heck, I’m not sure if I even like it myself. It’s 1154 AD, and my sister Jules and I are trapped in medieval France. Even worse, I’m about to be crowned king. It can’t be all bad, because I’ve met someone, my lady in red, and this part of my story is all about her.

My name is Guillaume, but you can call me Gill, and despite what you hear, this story might be my sister’s fault.

Intense Time Travel Fantasy

This was the second book in the series, and I thought it was entertaining. I found the story to be creative and fascinating. I do want to acknowledge that there were some trigger issues in this story and quite a bit of cursing. Matthew DeWolf's narration was fun and kept my attention. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

Time travel adventure and romance...

Two things first:
1. Listen to the first book
2. Be prepared for an exorbitant amount of unnecessary F-bombs and other language

Marie, which is Book 2 in The Curse of Lanval series by Rebekah Dodson was a decent listen, once I figured out what was going on. This is the story of Gill and Jules, siblings who have time-traveled to 1154AD and the time of Henry I. Gill meets and becomes enamored with Marie, who also seems likely to be a time traveler. This is their story, oh, and Gill ends up taking over as King...I'd definitely recommend reading or listening to the books in order so that you know what is going on in the next book. Now, swearing in books doesn't bother me at all, except when it's completely unnecessary and sounds forced. I mean, Gill swears so much and there just wasn't any particular reason for it. That was offputting. Other than that, Gill and Jules' (and Marie's) story was entertaining. I definitely wished that I would have listened to the first book in the series though.

Matthew DeWolf did a great job narrating this story. He brought life and emotion to the characters and I could easily tell which character was speaking at any given time. I'd be happy to listen to more of his performances int he future. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher for an honest review.

Great Time Travel Novel!

Another wonderfully done novel by Dodson. Beautifully written and detailed in every scene that hooks the reader from start to finish. Narration gave our hero a voice. Can't wait to listen to the next novel.

Still interesting but enjoyed Prequel Better

This is Still a good story but Gill is now constantly berating himself and making mistakes. Gill & Jelia are trying to do the best they can in the circumstances they found themselves in and wanting to go home. I really like the Marie character and hope to see more of her in upcoming Audible books from this Series. Narrator does a nice job on characters voices in this book.

A wonderful follow up

A great second addition to a series. The additional characters just add on to the story.
