Publisher's summary

One good deed can change everything.

After saving a woman from an armed robber at a truck stop, former soldier John Lucky is more than happy to take her number, even if she does print it out on a lottery ticket. He's even more happy when that ticket wins the lottery and he can take himself and his Army bud Davey down to Florida so they can live the good life in the paradise that is the Gulf Coast.

Drinks, girls, and good times take a backseat to trouble, though, when "Lucky John" (as the papers dubbed him) finds himself entangled in a murder investigation that might send the luckiest man in the world down the river for a crime he didn't commit.

Fans of Travis McGee, Wayne Stinnett, and Randy Wayne White will love Lucky John and his friends' misadventures in the Gulf Coast. Pick up a copy of this edge-of-your-seat, fun-soaked adventure today!

This was a very entertaining book. Soldier wins the lottery, moves to Florida, and then gets involved in a murder. They call him Lucky John which is the funny part. I look forward to reading more from the author.

I received this book for free in exchange of my honest opinion.

I do think Davy deserves a Porsche! Ha ha!

Loved this action filled story! John is such a likable character. Kind, smart, considerate and friendly heck even his side kick and best friend is that same way. Together they always have a good time which usually leads to an Uh-Oh moment. Then chaos happens and we get to see who comes out on top.

The author does a wonderful job of pulling me into this story! It was hard to stop listening when the time came. I loved all the action and suspense he built! I eagerly look forward to more in this new to me series!

I listened to this on audio. Jeffrey Holz was a perfect choice as narrator. I loved listening to him portray these characters. Great voice for these types of stories!

Lucky Break

This is the first book in the Lucky John Adventures series. Mark Stone is a new author to me. I really enjoyed this book. It is a fast paced murder mystery full of humor. John is in the right place at the right time or wrong time some may say. He was a truck driver just stopping at a convenience store, when it was being robbed. He stopped the robber. Afterwards he was flirting with the clerk and won the Lottery. He moved to a small town in Florida to relax and enjoy his winnings. He made a few friends in town and got invited to a party. At the party he met a very inquisitive little boy. That boy got taken and Lucky John was in the right place or the wrong place again. I believe each book is an interconnected standalone. Jeffrey Holz did a fantastic job narrating this book.

Highly Recomend

The start of this story really reminded me of the start to the movie "It Could Happen to You." Guys wins lotto, thanks to ticket that happens to have a phone number, and so on. Obviously nothing like that movie in ANY other aspect, but it made me laugh thinking about it, and that's always a good thing. From there its really a non-stop ride of plot, and all in all, a fantastic listen. I have a 3 hr commute each day, and while laughing along I felt myself wishing traffic was a little slower for the first time in recorded history.

My only complaint about this would be that it was not dual-narrated. Maybe ive been spoiled by all the new books recently with dual (or more) narration, but this one felt a little flat because of the lack of it. Jeffery Holz does a great job as the male characters, but its just missing something having him try to do a female voice.

Sit back and enjoy the ride!

This book is like a fun action movie you just wanna keep watching to see what happens but also because the characters are a blast! Basically John a truck driver, miraculously wins the lotto after saving a store clerk during a robbery. She prints her phone number on a lotto ticket which turns out to be the winning number!

John and his buddy Davey decide to take his winnings and move to Florida to enjoy the good life. Along the way, somehow John keeps finding himself in situations where he’s inclined to keep “saving the day”.

The main character John is simply the man! He’s a lovable character who appeals to your average Joe, but also the ladies of course. Gotta love John’s passion for kids as well…there’s a fun kid character in this book.

Narration is great. Jeffrey Holz brings all the characters to life but most notably the characters of John and his buddy Davey. The kid and Parker are a lot of fun as well.

I really enjoyed the ride on this one!

Is John Lucky really lucky?

Put me in to the "I liked it alot" category. I listened to the Audible version and the narrator, Jeffrey Holz, really brought these characters to life. He has a cool voice. His little boy voice, as well as his female voices, were especially good. This story is action packed, silly/funny, and very entertaining.
I was gifted this book from the author through Story Origin.

Entertaining!

This was my first Mark Stone's book. This is the first book in the Lucky John Adventures Seres. I liked this entertaining story, filled with danger, action, and twists and turns. The characters are interesting and well developed. John Lucky, a former soldier, is capable, and determined. The cast of supporting characters is impressive. The kid is adorable and brave. The murder investigation is captivating. Jeffrey Holz did an excellent job bringing this story to life. #PFPAudio

Action and dry humor

This is the first book I've listened to by Mark Stone. I wasn't sure about the story at first because John Lucky didn't seem like a likable guy at the beginning, but over the course of the purely-for-entertainment-so-it-doesn't-need-to-be-believable story I ended up liking the dry, and often self-deprecating humor. I also love the idea of a phone number winning the lottery.

Jeffrey Holz was a new-to-me-narrator. He did a fantastic job with the narration and with performing distinct voices for characters so they were instantly recognizable from just their dialogue. His delivery of the afore-mentioned humor was perfect.

I received a copy of the audiobook at my request, and the opinions here are my own.
