Publisher's summary

A family secret catapults Rory into a magical library - and a new life she never knew she wanted.

Bookshop assistant Aurora "Rory" Hawthorn thinks reality will never be as interesting as fiction. Content to spend her time escaping into a good book to escape her micromanaging boss, the very last thing she expects is to be cornered by a group of terrifying strangers hunting down a journal that belonged to her late father.

It turns out Dad was keeping a secret or two...most importantly, that he was a wizard, and that Rory has a hidden magical family she's never met. When her witchy relatives invite her to live with them in their enchanted library, it's literally a dream come true.

Until she stumbles upon a dead body hidden behind a bookshelf.

Juggling a new family and job would be enough of a challenge without also having to deal with a murder mystery, cranky familiars, and the attention of the local reaper - even if he is the hottest guy in town.

It's up to Rory to embrace her new witchy powers to help catch a killer before she loses the new life she never knew she wanted.

This box set contains the first three books in the Library Witch Mysteries series:

Easy listen. A Clean Cozy with no profanity.

The narrator does a great job overall BUT the main character (who is 20ish) sounds like an older women. This is odd because the narrator does a perfect younger voice for the 20ish year old cousin in the story. If you can get passed the older voice for a younger character issue, the story great.

The characters are well developed and the story is enjoyable. I love the way story is centered around the library. I purchased Books 1-3 as a bundle and could not stop listening. I like it so much I purchased the next bundle 4-6 as soon as it said, "Thanks for listening".

Just okay

The stories were just ok. None of them standout. I really disliked how one cousin behaved as she acted like a 13 year old and that was discordant coming from a young adult woman. The vocal performance was poor and you have to listen for the attribution tags to know who’s talking.

A fun read

While the first book started slow by the end I was hooked. The next two books held me captivated and wanting more.

LOVE THIS SO MUCH I AM GOING TO BUY BOX SET 2.

Well writen and narrated in a voice that is vaguely of Sally Fields. I am probably showing my age with that comment but we are never too old for entertaining magicall paranormal fun and this series has those in spades. RECOMMENDED SERIES, AUTHOR AND NARRATOR.

Wonderful series

This is a refreshing series with lots of interesting characters. I would love to live in or visit this library. The narrator's voice definitely brings the characters to life.

Enjoyable story but I can’t stand the narration

I feel so bad even writing this review, but I just cannot get through this book because of the narrator. Her voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me and I hate to say that because she’s probably a nice person. I am enjoying the story and want to finish so I am going to switch to Kindle. It’s just awful.

Good cozy story but...

I enjoyed this cozy set and the stories are fun tales of a newbie witch. I nearly stopped listening though once I heard who the narrator was because although I don't mind her as a narrator, she really should stop reading books that have younger characters and numerous speakers. Hollis McCarthy has a raspy voice that is very unfitting for characters in their 20's and she barely has changes when speaking for other characters so everyone ends up sounding similar.
I do recommend these books for a fun easy listen if you can get past the narrative.

I don’t usually write reviews

My opinion might be different if these books were read by someone other the the one chosen to read them. She made it so hard to stay with it. I skipped chapters to hurry to the end. I also tried to return the books and couldn’t.

Horrible narrator

The narrator reads with an air of pretension with a posh manner as if reading a Shakespearean soliloquy not a novel.
