Rulfo comenta los relatos que sigue escribiendo en cartas a su novia Clara Aparicio. En 1951 se publica el séptimo, "Diles que no me maten", en la revista América. Gracias a la primera beca que Rulfo recibe del Centro Mexicano de Escritores puede terminar los ocho que aparecerán con los previos en 1953, en el libro titulado El Llano en llamas, dedicado a Clara. Dos relatos más, aparecidos en revistas en 1955, serán incluidos en la edición de 1970.

Corto y nostálgico
A pesar de no haber vivido esa época me dio nostalgia, pensar cómo mis tíos y padres vivieron, pensar en ese México donde aún había esperanza a pesar de convivir en la miseria todos los días.

Narrador regular, pero mejor que muchos.
Aunque no me termina de gustar la actitud/tono del narrador, la entonación, timbre y claridad de la voz es muy bueno. Por lo tanto, me permitió disfrutar mucho volver a visitar este cuento.
El mejor narrador en español sigue siendo Alejandro Vargas Lugo.

Que ligera, contrastante, lúcida y descriptible de esa ciudad después de la segunda guerra mundial.
Clasismo, politica, educación. La Roma, el primer amor, el pensamiento de los adultos en esa época, las diferencias entre la clase alta, media y baja.
La derecha, el poder. Me parece una obra sencilla llena de complejidades.
