Great for fluency practice.
A good sequel to Power Spanish 1 Accelerated.
You can use these audio lessons in any increments you like, whatever is convenient for you.
Power Spanish 2 Accelerated – Really Helps You Become Fluent in Spanish.
Power Spanish 2 packs a LOT of material into its eight hours of lessons. If you have a basic knowledge of the Spanish language then Power Spanish 2 Accelerated will power your Spanish to a higher level. This program is not for the fluent in Spanish. The whole reason for the program is to help you to BECOME fluent in the Spanish language. I really think I got more than my money’s worth. Power Spanish 2 Accelerated is not just a re-hash of Power Spanish 1 Accelerated with a few new words and phrased thrown in. There is all kinds of vocabulary words covering all kinds of topics, like eating and drinking and having parties, and buying tickets to go to places and finding your way around places.
I really learned with the variety of instruction. Sometimes you remember and recall, then you directly participate with native Spanish speakers. Often you listen and repeat and at other times you just listen. You get some simple grammar instructions in some of the sections of the program. They are very short and deal with the lesson being given at that moment.
The lessons are somewhat structured but still spontaneous and the overall presentation is relaxed and informal. The narration has a very personal feel to it. It is not like some language learning recordings where the narration is done by deep-voiced, monotone, stiff and formal radio type of narrators. Mark Frobose, the developer of the program, serves as the narrator/teacher throughout all of it with different educated Spanish speakers. Like I said, it has a very personal feel to it. Mark and the speaker even laugh occasionally as they are explaining funny things. It really does sound like it is a private lesson between you and the native speakers and the narrator.
But it does move pretty quick. This program is excellent for someone who really wants to learn to speak Spanish fast.
I need to learn different language to fulfill my business requirement and I found audible as a helping friend to reach my goal.
Yes, I would definitely listen to Power Spanish 2 Accelerated again. Power Spanish taught me how to communicate quickly and effectively in Spanish using my own original thoughts and did so without boredom or tedium. Mark Frobose doesn't follow the herd with mindless and old language programs like Pimsleur and Spanish Like Crasy. Mark's Language Audiobooks approach makes it easy and fun to really learn to speak and understand a new language. It is obvious that this method makes all others pale in comparison. From basic review to advanced idiomatic expressions taught in a situational format, Power Spanish 2 (just like the original Power Spanish 1) exceeded all of my expectations.
Teaching me how to really speak Spanish.
I love the caring way he relates to the listeners while he teaches Spanish.
Yes, Mark managed to create the most effective language-learning program where one section built on the one before it. He also succeeded to make it easy for the listener to go back to the start of a lesson to repeat.
Pimsleur, Rosetta Stone and Coffeebreak Espanol could learn a great deal from Language Audiobooks and Mark's excellent voice and educated Spanish speakers. Mark's spontaneous and expert delivery and of original sentence making templates, memory techniques and humor make the language learning process a real joy.
Spontaneous and Flexible Learning
This is a great program, which completely follows up the fabulous – Power Spanish 1 Accelerated.
Can’t really do this all in one sitting. It’s designed to be used during waiting times, bit by bit.
Power Spanish 2 Accelerated is an awesome program to learn a more high level of Spanish. The narrator did an excellent job, narrates and converses with such an ease, explains the situations, the words meaning in English and what to say about the native Spanish speakers. They greatly compliment the narrator and add native accent and depth & tone. They go fast in the beginning, then slow, let you repeat, then again fast, which helped me to converse and understand different tenses in Spanish. A great learning program, easy to learn and spontaneous!
I have been learning Spanish from Mark Frobose audio books and this is my third one, and I learned even more than what I expected, really worth the money. But, this is a little higher version, must learn from Power Spanish 1 Accelerated first to go with the flow of this program. I learned to speak a lot of vocabulary words even more than previous courses, learned the different tenses, how to make your own conversational sentences while conversing with a Latin Spanish speaker from this program. I can’t recommend this program highly enough.
A really special language-learning atmosphere is created by the friendly narration in this program Excellent combination of seriousness and humorous tones, which makes learning great fun. It is the best I have ever used, you can learn to speak Spanish with such an ease and can also listen to this great program wherever you are and whenever you are free. Try it. I'm sure it will work for you like it did for me. I feel so happy that now I can converse in Spanish so fluently, all thanks goes Mark Frobose’s great narration and his trained native Spanish speakers from all over the Spanish-speaking world.
Yes, I really do like Mark Frobose and his lessons - don't get me wrong.. Power Spanish Accelerated I was EXCELLENT but this one was a let down.. Maybe his other books will be better.. I have only listened to these 2.
Basically I found Power Spanish Accelerated I to be excellent and I learned so much so quickly that I went for this second one.. Although it was not a waste of time to listen to, I wasn't nearly as impressed as I was with the first one. What I found was that there was a TON of review from the first book of the series and I'm not sure why.. If you have an audiobook you can go back and listen/review whatever you want to. You don't have to include so much review in the next level of the audiobook.. Whoever is looking to get the more advanced lesson has probably already mastered the material in the beginners book.. So probably about 2 out of the 8 hours of this audiobook was reviewing things that were already covered in the first book(as someone pointed out, numbers 1-10 were covered in this 'advanced' lesson). And there WAS a lot of intermediate-advanced spanish in this lesson, so I'm not saying that it was too simple.. The problem was there was not nearly enough explanation, slow repetition, and breaking down of the new material.. They could have given us a THOROUGH understanding of the new material, but rather chose to breeze right through it and then get back to basic reviews of things we already should know. So basically I felt like it went back and forth from painfully simple, to really difficult without much explanation.. I felt like with the first power spanish I could listen to an entire chapter through and get plenty of repetition/understanding but with this one I found my self either wanting to fast-forward to something I don't already know - or having to stop and rewind a bunch of times to learn what was being taught.Another thing that I was not pleased with is a great deal of this book is learning idioms and phrases like "it cost an arm and a leg" and "the early bird gets the worm" and "the apple doesnt fall far from the tree" - things like that.. I thought that was a waste of time and it did take a lot of practice and pausing/rewinding to break down and understand these phrases.. Again there wasn't much learning there, it was more like "this means this.. so listen to it until you memorize it".. I mean it's good to know them, but I feel like it's something I would learn more easily after I have a more solid base in the spanish language and can actually understand the sentence literally before learning their alternate meaning.. All my opinion of course.. I loved Power Spanish I by Frobose but was not too impressed with this one.
Unlike the far more useful Pimsleur or Learning Spanish Like Crazy audio programs, Frobose doesn't bother inserting in chapter or lessons breaks. This makes it very difficult to repeat a difficult section/lesson. It doesn't really seem much thought was given to the program overall. How else can one explain teaching the numbers one through ten in the level 2 audiobook -- or spending 40+ minutes going over idiomatic expressions? I was so hopeful that this would be a well-designed and effective audio-tool for learning Spanish. Sadly, it isn't.
Frobose simply failed to construct an effective learning program where one section built on the one before it. He also failed to make it easy for the listener to go back to the start of a lesson to repeat. Sadly, the audio sounds like a cut and paste hack job.
I'm unlikely to try another Frobose audio. I've listened to two of them and both suffer from a lack of warmth, clarity, or effectiveness. His aren't the worst Spanish language audio programs out there -- but they aren't all that good.
Frobose could learn a great deal from the producers of the podcast Coffeebreak Espanol as these folks have a warm and inviting tone that encourages and engages listeners. Mark's robotic delivery and recycled phrases take the joy out of the learning process.
"Good content, let down by poor sound quality"
Yes, the content is good and quickly paced. Ideal for a quick few weeks cramming before a trip to Spain.
However on this level 2 program, the male Spanish speaker is predominant, and to be honest, he mumbles terribly. There are some words and phrases, that no matter how many times I listen to it, I can't make out what he's saying or repeat it clearly.
yes, with the caveat that the mumbling will annoy them
There is a lot of Spanish in this course and the basics are really drilled in, in a similar way that FSI courses do. No pretence at magic leaarning like the picture-based courses
Don't understand question
This course is a usual addition to other courses, sits well with Michel Thomas & Pimsleur, and covers much more vocabulary that those two put together. The drills can be quite fast-paced, so really do drill the words in. I think most learners would have to go through this twice, because so much is crammed into the 8 hours
