    "This is brilliant!!"

I always wanted to learn German but have heard horrors stories of hours upon hours spent studying vowels sounds and conjugations. This condenses it and makes it so user friendly. Take the plunge, you will not regret it, Great price too!!

    "This guy is incredible"
If you could sum up Learn German with Paul Noble, Part 1 in three words, what would they be?

Completely new way to learn that is fantastic! You first learn to speak German with the English equivalents. So you are speaking German in English. You don't even know you are speaking German but you are. You learn sentence structure first, THEN you slowly learn real German words. You get comfortable with speaking German before you deep dive. This is perfect for me.

What other book might you compare Learn German with Paul Noble, Part 1 to and why?

    Unique

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Yes

    Any additional comments?

Don't buy any other book, this is the one.

    "Excellent for Self-Teaching Beginners"
What made the experience of listening to Learn German with Paul Noble, Part 1 the most enjoyable?

This is the best program for gaining a firm foundation in the German language when you are teaching yourself. I've tried other audio lessons and podcasts, but even though they say they are for beginners they advance too quickly and the learner (me) gets frustrated and wants to quit. With this program I'm learning German without thinking about it and it is "clicking" with me as never before. Sure, you are not going to be fluent even after going through all four parts of this program, but you will have a solid grip on the language for further study.

    "Repetition works"
Would you listen to Learn German with Paul Noble, Part 1 again? Why?

Yes. Necessary to have repetition to learn a language

Would you recommend Learn German with Paul Noble, Part 1 to your friends? Why or why not?

Yes. It works. By the end, German words and phrases have been burned into your brain.

Have you listened to any of Paul Noble’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    No.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    N/A

    Any additional comments?

If you buy this Part 1, don't bother with Part 2, and perhaps 3 and 4 as well. Part 2 is a repeat of what was learned in Part 1. Although once you buy Part I you do not need to buy the other Parts, I was disappointed that I could not continue on in the series and learn more vocabulary. Instead, I had to switch to another language system.

    "Excellent Resource."
Where does Learn German with Paul Noble, Part 1 rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Only tried this one audiobook, but i have a wealth of other German resources and nothing has helped the German language stick like this.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

    N/a

What does Paul Noble bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

He has a really soothing voice and sounds inviting into the language.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

    No.

    Any additional comments?

This is the way to learn grammar for anyone who's tried and failed before using different methods. Not a single grammatical term outside of 'verb' is used yet somehow the implicit use of grammar helps you memorise it. I don't know how it works, but it does. After listening for two days i'm easily constructing basic sentences. Yes - BASIC sentences. Don't buy this thinking it will make you fluent, but it will give you a solid grounding which you can add upon later. It does this by adding pieces onto what you've already learned and through a lot of good repetition.

Excellent product, and at the price you can't grumble.

"A ver enjoyable way to learn"
    Any additional comments?

Paul Noble promotes this as being for people who aren't normally very good at languages. As one of these people, I've found it excellent.

The course starts of with some simple concepts that are similar to English - "I Can", "Can I ... ?" and doesn't require or expect the listener to learn vocabulary. In fact we're explicitly told that it's okay to forget. If a piece of vocab or a rule is needed later, we'll be reminded. However, I found that the vocab has stuck with me mostly.

There seems to be a determined refusal to use gramatical terms, no explict conjugation, no lists of words to learn. Each lesson builds on earlier ones. New words are introduced as we might need them. We're taught how to construct sentences in a fairly natural way.

It's a fairly short course. After part 1 I do have the ability to construct fairly complex sentences. "I can't come because it isn't practical" "I have seen it. It is fantastic". "Can you reserve a room, because I can't do it", and I realise the odd word of German I've picked up over time can be added to these sentences. I do find the repetition gets a little tiresome at times. Not jsut of the vocaubulary but of the way to structure a sentence, and how to use the course. The pace is a little slower than I'd like but nothing too serious, and obviously it's better to go too slow than too fast.I have certainly enjoyed this and feel a certain confidence speaking the language, even if what I can say is limited.

Am looking forward to sections 2 and 3.

    "Der Erste Programme"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Jawohl sehr bestimmt,! Yes most definitely)! Sie haben diese lesen nicht hart gemacht!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Paul Noble he has structured this course into easily learnt stages with excellent recapitulation. The programme is quite easy to follow and anyone who wishes to learn German should have no difficulty in following the various stages

Have you listened to any of Paul Noble’s other performances? How does this one compare?

No. But this first stage has impressed me considerably and I will most definitely follow the entire course through it's complete set of stages.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The presentation of stage one was structured so as to make the the subject matter easy to assimilate. The method in which the course is presented and the various phrases are demonnstrated by a German lady speaker are most impressive. I am also very impressed with the manual which accompanies the course

    Any additional comments?

I am 78 years of age and learnt basic German whilst at school 1948/49, I also spent 18 months of my National Service in Germany (Krefeld and Wilhelmshaven) in 1954/55,However this Course is giving me a better understanding of the German language and it's practical application despite my age. Vielen Danke oder Viele Danken.

    "Brilliant introduction"

This is a really good introduction to German, and I expect it would be great to revise from, especially the grammar rules. The repetition means you learn words without having to make a conscious effort to do so, and it feels like you're being guided through the language at a good pace.

Also, Paul Noble provides an easy to understand (and remember) way of teaching aspects of the language such as grammar, as well as explaining similarities with English. The use of a native speaker to imitate also helps with correct pronunciation. I would highly recommend this to anyone interested in starting to learn German

    "Friendly and approachable"

I have tried the Michael Thomas course and, while it was good I found the school teacher style and the way he has to correct the 'students' got to me after a while. Paul's uses a similar approach, but with the German spoken by a native speaker, so it was calmer and more relaxed.
