In this study, a group of German speakers was given a list of unfamiliar Dutch words to study. Half were instructed to get some sleep while they listened to long lists of Dutch words and translations. The other half was instructed to stay awake. Four hours later, they were tested and the group that listened while they slept had significantly higher recall.

Excellent for Self-Teaching Beginners
What made the experience of listening to Learn German with Paul Noble, Part 1 the most enjoyable?
This is the best program for gaining a firm foundation in the German language when you are teaching yourself. I've tried other audio lessons and podcasts, but even though they say they are for beginners they advance too quickly and the learner (me) gets frustrated and wants to quit. With this program I'm learning German without thinking about it and it is "clicking" with me as never before. Sure, you are not going to be fluent even after going through all four parts of this program, but you will have a solid grip on the language for further study.

The Best!
I have tried many language learning softwares, apps, and classes. This audio book has been not only the most rewarding, but also the most convenient in everyday life. It's paced well enough to learn a little at a time while also engaging you immediately in speaking German. I will listen to it again and can't wait to start the second part as well!

Listened to it at 1.5x speed. In retrospect I might have skipped to the final half hour which is a high speed review. Recommended for more advanced students. Very excited about Part 2 and Part 3!

I think Paul Noble has an amazing way in breaking down the language. So helpful! Of course ambitiously, I hoped the 11 hours of German would've taken me further - but I've genuinely and comfortably retained what I've learned hear.
