I now have bought both the audible and eBook version of this book , they go hand in hand. It is not easy to find good books at a upper beginner to intermediate level of German and the author addresses this area in excellent fashion. Some of the German phrases have been used in earlier books which I like thus revising from the past along with new phrases and ideas . Would like to see some of the authors other / non beginner range of books done in audio fashion in the future. Go for it please Andre.
Recommend , recommend , recommend My level of German has improved immensely since I started buying this series of books. They are price friendly also.
I have bought all of the 3 audio books that exist at this point in time. They are all excellent , they are not too long or not short . Being able to speed up the spoken text with the Audible App is a great bonus also.
From context, you can discover so much in terms of grammar, pronunciation conjugation, etc., if you're trying to learn a new language. Once you know a good handful of nouns and verbs, this is a great way to see how they go together.
Every time you listen, you pick up another word you didn't realize the first time around. I bought every one in this series. I love Ferien in Frankfurt too.
It's been a long while since the previous installment came out in audio, and I haven't looked at the printed version in a while too, but it's really great to be able to understand the audio. Andre' is one of a kind in this niche of German learning tools through stories.
Without the text you won't be able to visualize the words being said. Without a translation you can get off on the wrong track. These 2 flaws are enough for someone like me who needs to visualize the words to help with learning retention to stay away. I am surprised there were so many glowing reviews and I suspect that is kind of fishy.
I really like these series of books on audible to work alongside my hard copy of books that I read as well.
Let's hope there's more to come
"Great for German - but really annoying music!"
Unbelievably annoying, maniacal and loud harmonica 'muzak' suddenly bursts against your eardrums - after listening to the calm and soothing voice of the reader this makes for a real shock and has me lurching to the mute button as fast as I possibly can. Starting to feel real dread when starting and finishing the audiobooks as I need to prepare to stop this really irritating sound! It really does put me off listening.
