Publisher's summary

Crimson, the bloodthirsty, sadistic King of Hearts, is a villain. Or at least he’s supposed to be. That’s just how things work in Wonderland, a strange, fanciful place filled with heroes and villains who always seem to be at odds.

Crim is in a very dark place after the hero Alister Kingsley wins the Wonderland joust and marries Madeline Hatter. He should have known better than to hope for true love since villains don’t get "happy endings".

But there’s something fishy afoot. Even though Crim loves Madeline, he can’t stop thinking about his Cheshire Cat slave, Katrina, who remains trapped in an enchanted sleep. Only true love’s kiss can break a sleeping curse, and Crim has tried that already. Don’t get him wrong. He doesn’t love Katrina. He just misses her delicious raspberry tarts terribly and will stop at nothing until she can bake them for him again.

Like sharks smelling blood in the water, Crim’s enemies make their move when the King of Hearts shows a moment of weakness caused by his recent defeat at Alister’s hands and his inability to break Katrina’s curse. The Queen of Hearts and Crim’s birthmother, Cordelia, has two powerful allies in her arsenal: the Other Artist, Alice, and the Sorcerer Maleficent.

Crim later discovers that the saying "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" is true when the Cheshire Cat People decide to join Crim in retaking the Red Kingdom from the clutches of Alice’s army, which is made up of vicious Dark Fairies and human-sized insects.

Can a villain become the hero Wonderland needs before it’s too late, or will Wonderland be plunged into an eternal darkness forever?

Imagination plus

This is not the type of book that I read, but this author has such a creative imagination. Her descriptions of characters and what they are going through are so vivid that the reader in drawn into this story. Crimson is definitely bad news but is he really? Things are constantly changing in this fantasy world.

The narrator did an excellent job of storytelling and allowing the reader to visualize this ever changing story. I received this Audible book in exchange for an honest review.

King of Hearts

I love the re-imagined story which is something new to me. The stories of characters you heard about growing up can be heartbreaking but I’ve loved the journey and the endings so far

Narrated by: L. A. Johnson
Series: Genderbent Fairytales Collection, Book 4

I listened to this book at 1.45 X

FYI. This book is Part 2 to "Alister in Wonderland "

If you like the t.v. Series "Once upon a time" adult fairtales you'll love this series.

It doesn't stick to one Fairytale line, it mixs different tales together.

Remember it's Genderbent so its King of Hearts instead of Queen of Hearts. Its kind of cool.

Very enjoyable listen.

And L.A. Johnson does a great job bring the story to life.

Let this king rule your heart

Love how this author takes a fairy tale and puts her own twist on it. Love how she always has you wondering what is next . This is book 4 in the story . It gets better as the series goes along . We all love the fairytale , grab it and see this version.

There is a wicked mother that is truly evil , she takes over Crims land and will stop at nothing. Crim is suppose to be evil but you see the wonderful man deep down. He is on a mission to save a heroine that is put under a deep sleep and only a lovers kiss can only save her . He tries to wake her up but it doesn’t work . Meanwhile there are so many enemies that don’t want to see Crim take the throne again . Does Crim defeat the evil backstab bets
Hope this series continues

L.A Johnson has done a wonderful work telling this story. He has improved so much from the first one . He has a smooth and clear voice

Wonderful Continuation

After reading Alister in Wonderland, I became fascinated with this storyline. The fantasy type stories aren’t really my “thing” but it truly is a great love story.

If you think you know these stories, think again. I love the re-imagined story so much I listened to this in one day, which isn’t like me. The back stories of characters you heard about growing up can be heartbreaking sometimes but I’ve loved the journey and the endings so far. Thank you for a great story!

Wow! Absolutely amazing!

This is not your children's fairy tale. If you loved Alister in Wonderland, which I recommend, you'll love King of Hearts. This is Crimson's story. You get to see The King of Hearts in an entirely new way. And I must say my opinion of Crim changed by the end. This is a wonderful fast paced story that had me engaged to the very end and I recommend it.
Narrator L.A. Johnson does a fabulous job and I look forward to listening to him again.

Another great listen

I am in awe with the imagination of this author. Wow she has quite a vivid imagination and a talent to twist the age old fairytales with her own twist and imagination and present with her magical words. The story was such a delightful listen. Hands down KoroKoneka’s words and L.A.Johnson’s narration are match made in haven . Can’t wait to listen what this dream duos would release next. Definitely a must listen.

An Awesome Extension

This comes after Alister in Wonderland. This story is about Crimson the King of Hearts. He was the villain in Alister in Wonderland but is he all bad? This is his story and it's wonderful. The characters are as fun to get to know as KuroKoneko Kamen's other genderbent stories. It's fun to listen to with action, adventure, mystery, suspense and plenty of humor. You don't have to listen to Alister in Wonderland to follow this one but it'll help if you do. The narration by LA Johnson is superbly done as with the other books. He really brings the story to life by giving all the characters their own voices and emotions. He's a very talented narrator and I can't imagine anyone else telling these stories. If you enjoy genderbent stories then you should check this one and the other out. They are very well written and produced. Another awesome and entertaining collaboration!!
