Audie Award Nominee, Solo Narration - Female, 2013

Of especially naughty children it is sometimes said, "They must have been raised by wolves."

The Incorrigible children actually were.

Since returning from London, the three Incorrigible children and their plucky governess, Miss Penelope Lumley, have been exceedingly busy. Despite their wolfish upbringing, the children have taken up bird-watching, with no unfortunate consequences - yet. And a perplexing gift raises hard questions about how Penelope came to be left at the Swanburne Academy for Poor Bright Females and why her parents never bothered to return for her.

But hers is not the only family mystery to solve. When Lord Fredrick's long-absent mother arrives with the noted explorer Admiral Faucet, gruesome secrets tumble out of the Ashton family tree. And when the admiral's prized racing ostrich gets loose in the forest, it will take all the Incorrigibles' skills to find her.

The hunt for the runaway ostrich is on. But Penelope is worried. Once back in the wild, will the children forget about books and poetry and go back to their howling, wolfish ways? What if they never want to come back to Ashton Place at all?

"Wonderful fun, for kids of any age!"

This series is perfect for enjoying with a child, but as an adult I enjoyed it quite a bit myself!
Each of the books in the series contain a mystery, (or several!) as well as there being an underlying mystery running throughout the series, and this one has kind of a cliff-hanger ending so I can't WAIT for the next one!!

"The story is beginning to drag a little."

It's well performed, but we are three books in with only a few mysteries revealed. Lady Constance's voice is incredibly grating, but luckily she isn't a major part of the book.

    "Another great read!"

Another installment of the incorrigibles met my expectations. Very cute and witty as usual. And part of the reason I love these books so much is the narrator- she is amazing! She does another series I love too and that was how I found the incorrigibles. I do wish we had learned a bit more about the big mystery but I guess it's good we will still have more books!

    "book 3"

I had a slightly harder time with this book than I did with the first two. I think it was because I had a long break in the middle of the story. Overall I enjoyed it and still look forward to the next installment.

"Cant get past the irritating voice of narrator!"
What would have made The Unseen Guest better?

I don't know because the voices of the narrator was so distracting as to not hear the story so I only got through about two hours. The regular voice was bad enough but when she does the other characters its like nails on a chalk board!

"Engaging story told in a rather shrill manner"
What did you love best about The Unseen Guest?

The story is easy to follow, but engaging. It is a simple story, at a child's level, but I listened while driving on an 1100 mile trip. It made the trip pass more smoothly.

Would you be willing to try another one of Katherine Kellgren???s performances?

    Only if I must.

    Story
    "Completely insane"
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

    I have no idea.

What was most disappointing about Maryrose Wood’s story?

So freaking random. Completely implausible scenarios. Unlovable characters. Indiscernible plot. No real progress on the mystery carrying through from book to book. I wonder how many books Wood expects to write and how she plans to dribble out the little bits of story.

What didn’t you like about Katherine Kellgren’s performance?

She's too pompous sounding, and too absurd in her characterization. She reads too loudly, compared to other audiobook readers. Also her timing is rushed.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    Headache.

    Any additional comments?

Don't bother. Read it with your eyes if you can.
