Publisher's summary

Narnia . . . a land frozen in eternal winter . . . a country waiting to be set free

Witness the creation of a magical land in The Magician's Nephew, the first title in C. S. Lewis's classic fantasy series, which has captivated readers of all ages for over sixty years.

On a daring quest to save a life, two friends are hurled into another world, where an evil sorceress seeks to enslave them. But then the lion Aslan's song weaves itself into the fabric of a new land, a land that will be known as Narnia. And in Narnia, all things are possible.

This is a stand-alone novel, but if you want to journey back to Narnia, check out The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, the second book in The Chronicles of Narnia.

Good story, absolutely the best narration

I’ve listened to many audio books over the years and this is the first one I’ve been moved to leave a review on. The story is good, I am a fan of Stephen King in general. What sets this apart is the narration by Steven Weber. He captures each character so well and his Pennywise will send chills down your spine. When I saw him listed as the narrator, I was very interested. I liked him in The Shining miniseries and thought his portrayal of Jack Torrence more in line with the way I pictured him in the book. I would be interested to see if he does any other Stephen King books in the future, they seem to work very well together! If your looking for a performance rather than just listening to a book then look no further.

The children were in awe

I’m so glad I got this book. We have the series but doing audio brought it to life.
It was our first purchase and we are hooked.

Amazing Narration!

This story is such a wonderful picture of the gospel. Prior to reading this book, I read “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe,” and then “The Magicians Nephew” made the world of Narnia and Aslan all the more grand!

Kenneth Branagh's reading is wonderful

Oh this book is wonderful, and Kenneth Branagh does a great job reading it. I laughed out loud, and got so absorbed that the book simply flew by. I have listened to a great number of audio books on long car trips, so I know that the reader can make or break a book whether it's good or not, and Branagh makes this one shine!

Great Classic and narration

Would you listen to The Magician's Nephew again? Why?

One to keep around - the story is amazing. It is a really complicated plot but it was easy to follow - even driving in traffic!

Any additional comments?

I'm trying to expose my kids to the classics - and this series was wonderfully done

Starts slow but finished well.

The Magician's Nephew started out as an average book, but as the story developed it became a delight to listen to. The narrator presented the story in a very entertaining manner.

Just like I remember

Read this book years ago when I was a kid and it was just as I remembered the book. With the audiobook, the music between random chapters could have been edited out and left the music at the beginning and end of the audiobook.
