Publisher's summary

Twelve-year-old Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school...again. No matter how hard he tries, he can't seem to stay out of trouble. But can he really be expected to stand by and watch while a bully picks on his scrawny best friend? Or not defend himself against his pre-algebra teacher when she turns into a monster and tries to kill him? Of course, no one believes Percy about the monster incident; he's not even sure he believes himself.

Until the Minotaur chases him to summer camp.

Suddenly, mythical creatures seem to be walking straight out of the pages of Percy's Greek mythology textbook and into his life. The gods of Mount Olympus, he's coming to realize, are very much alive in the 21st-century. And worse, he's angered a few of them: Zeus's master lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect.

Now Percy has just 10 days to find and return Zeus's stolen property, and bring peace to a warring Mount Olympus. On a daring road trip from their summer camp in New York to the gates of the Underworld in Los Angeles, Percy and his friends, one a satyr and the other the demigod daughter of Athena, will face a host of enemies determined to stop them. To succeed in his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the true thief: he must come to terms with the father who abandoned him; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him of failure and betrayal by a friend; and unravel a treachery more powerful than the gods themselves.

Percy Jackson is the eponymous hero of the best-selling Percy Jackson and the Olympians series by Rick Riordan. He made his debut in The Lightning Thief at just 12 years old, where he discovered the shocking truth about his parentage: He is a demigod, the son of a mortal woman and the god Poseidon. Beyond his own series, he was one of the protagonists in the Heroes of Olympus series and has since appeared in other spin-off novels and series from Riordan.

What a fun read!

This was such a fun book to listen to! I loved the story (although a little predictable). The narrators performance was also fantastic. I wish I would have read this when I was a kid!

Good story, not great narration

I never read the Percy Jackson books as a kid. As a Greek Mythology lover, I thought it was time. I mostly enjoyed the story but I did not love how the narrator portrayed the Gods. A little cheesy, but overall okay listen.

Loved it!!!!

It is an amazing action-packed series for kids. I loved it so much the reader gives different voices for different characters that sound almost like the movies. You should watch the first two movies which I wish they made more like the Harry Potter series and had a movie per book!!

Five stars!!!

Rick Riordan has taken old Greek myths and combined them with the modern world. This is a great series starter for ages 10 to 14. A combination of heroism and humor comes together for an overall great book. Five stars. The Magnus Chase series, also by Rick Riordan is a hilarious interpretation of Norse mythology. Another great read if you enjoy Percy Jackson.

Great Book!! Fun and creative!!

It is a great listen. I think is a perfect book for boys, ages 8 to 15 (depends on your kid(s)).

It is a fun way to learn greek Mythology in a fresh present day way.

I would say reading/listening to an explanation of the greek gods and goddesses helps. He has 2 books out that give some back stories also in a fun modern day twist. I think that will help if you have no knowledge going into this. However it is not necessary to like, understand and enjoy this story.

The voice talent is amazing, one of the best by far!!!! I have listen to a lot of books.

Enjoy this wonderful creative book.

Good book

I enyoyed the book alott. Took some time to get used too the horrible "voice acting of Jesse Bernstein".. His Percy Jackson was ok, but when he was doing the voices of other people It was terrible to listen to... The overall quality of the production was kinda bad to... no sounds no music.... but book was great and when you get used to the voices you dont realy mind it...
