The adventure continues in the Ranger's Apprentice companion trilogy!
Hal and the Herons have done the impossible. This group of outsiders has beaten out the strongest, most skilled young warriors in all of Skandia to win the Brotherband competition. But their celebration comes to an abrupt end when the Skandians' most sacred artifact, the Andomal, is stolen - and the Herons are to blame.
To find redemption they must track down the thief, Zavac, and recover the Andomal. But that means traversing stormy seas, surviving a bitter winter, and battling a group of deadly pirates willing to protect their prize at all costs. Even Brotherband training and the help of Skandia's greatest warrior may not be enough to ensure that Hal and his friends return home with the Andomal - or their lives.

The inventive side of the young boys.
The old one armed man, as he is so talented.
Not bad, he did a good job. He is one of my favorite voice actors.
Yeah when the young boy got hit by an arrow in the boat. It was very predictable that it would happen but it was also a scene that had to happen in one way or another to move the character development forwards.
Good book. Listened to the whole thing in one shot. Love the inventive side of the characters. The story line is quite predictable it however still holds my attention.
John Keating does an amazing job of narrating. I've enjoyed listening to him narrate The Ranger's Apprentice Series also.
John Keating performs all the characters' voices.
Yes, The story keeps you enthralled and gives the story a realistic approach.
Hal, He uses his brains while others just use their brawn. By doing this, he helps others find their own abilities.
Consistency in levels
Yes, However I took many to complete
having the rest of the book would be nice. the storie is great but it leaves one feeling cheated by cuting it so short and ending so crudely. i feel like i just got cheated out of my money on this book.
Don't buy this book when it is only 6 hrs 54 mins long. It is not the whole book. It ends at page 243 on a 400+ page book. I re-downloaded it to see if I was mistaken, but I am not. All of his other books are 12+ hours. The parts that were done were incredible. Will be a great book as soon as they get the second part to it.
Get the rest of the BOOK
Anger that it wasn't all included.
I really enjoyed this book. It had a good flow and the plot was captivating. The problem is the narrator. He is a soft spoken British guy that is trying to voice over for Scandinavian Warriors that are rugged and have deep voices according to the book. if you can get past that small detail, then you will thoroughly enjoy this book.
if you like the Ranger's Apprentice series you're going to love this. In John Flanagans 11 books of the Ranger's Apprentice series he made me fall in love with will a young Ranger's Apprentice and Alice two orphans warded to a castle. so much in fact that I was reluctant to listen to this series thinking that he just couldn't talk that but I love this series even more. if you like coming-of-age style books in a time set way before the modern world you're going to love the series.
When Hal and his crew find the Andomal- Skandia's most prized artifact taken under the Herons watch they know they only have one choice, to get it back even if that means defying the overjarl and traveling miles from home. Will a crew of nine teenagers have what it takes to fight Zavak's 100 men?
